Hi everyone i am new to this forum and i recently discovered that my ac compressor wont turn on, however the Freon levels are good, i can turn it by hand and the fans and controls are working fine so i was wondering if anyone knows the exact fuse or relay that operates my compressor on an 05 mustang?? or what other options do i have to fix it its getting hot.

 

Wow... and according to this, the compressor is discontinued. So hopefully the compressor is not bad and it's something else. How do you know that the Freon levels are good? Did you put on gauges? When the system was last charged, was refrigerant oil added with the Freon? Did you ever bring it to a place and have the entire system evacuated out to suck out all of the moisture and then re-charge it again? Did you check the evaporator and condenser for leaks using a leak detector? If there's Freon, but not at a high enough charge level, it could keep the compressor from turning on as a method of protection.

 

What do you mean by you can turn it on by hand? There is a relay that turns the compressor on and depending on the type of control manual or auto ac there is a few safety switches to make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system.

 

Make sure electrical connector is fully seated and all pins are present and not bent,I've fixed many with very low miles with this simple check.
