2005-2009 Ford Mustang S-197 Gen 1 CD player cycles and drains battery?

I have a 2005 GT Convertible and when I park the car for a week or longer, with CDs in the player (500 model radio), the CD tray starts cycling and continues to cycle without stopping running the battery down to a no-crank situation. If no CDs are in the player then the cycling doesn't happen. Does anyone know of a software fix or TSB on this problem. My fix is to just leave the CDs out when I park it with the cover on it. R/Mike

I have a 2006 V^ pony with the Shaker 500. Same thing happened to me. First the Alternator went bad. Then the batter was dead every morning. I get a new battery. I then did some research to find that these head units have this issue. SO I cycled the CD player. Took all cd's out turned off the radio and took the keys out and locked the car. Next day I went and put the cd's back in Made sure the Radio was on before turning it off. Never had this happen again.

I also have read that there is a relay that could cause the issue. I ordered a new head unit to make sure it never happens again.

Good Luck
