what started your madness?
i wasnt big into cars at all my entire life until i saw a 69 boss 429. It was a maroon with a black scoop and black accents. It shined like diamonds were all over the car, there wasnt a single paint flaw on it (not like i would know back then). the sound of the BB beast made me tingle.
My only regret is i never got to ride in it or drive it, but thats what got me started on mustangs, and one day i will own 1!

It was 1991, my best friend and I were 7 and 8 years old and I was at his house and his neighbor restored classic Mustangs. He had 36 pristine examples. His wife's '70 Mustang 351 Winsdor powered convertible in Grabber Orange was always parked out front of their house. My friend and I would always go look at the car. Then, the neighbor, Milton showed us his 9 car garage full of Mustangs. Boss 302, 428 Cobra Jet Police Interceptor convertible in dark blue, two '67 GT350s, among others. He has two other garages near by that he drove us to in his candy apple red '65 GT convertible. From then on it has been and always will be my favorite car...

Neighbor kid that lived behind me's dad had purchased a car... I went over and sat in his garage was a black 65 fastback with red interior. GT package, red line tires, pin stripe, and was just amazing... I know that one day I'd have a car like that. Since then I've owned a 76 hatchback, 66 & 68 coupe, 65 fastback and now....

Not sure...
My first car I messed with was a 69 Nova with a 307. I remember doing a couple of things that hopped it up a bit and had my first race with a friend that had a nice Dodge. Pulled on him.
Then a 69 Pontiac Custom S with a 350.
67 Impala with a 283 and Powerglide.
69 Buick GS 400 Stage I
70 Chevelle SS396 375HP
69 Camaro with a 6
72 Buick GS455
69 Pontiac GTO Judge
68 Gran Prix 400/400
75 Camaro 350
78 Camaro 305
77 Mustang II 4/4
I think there were a couple more in there...
And I have been doing Fox Mustangs since.

Mine was a '65 or '66(can't remember the year) 6 cylinder coupe.
Look at my sig and add a Opal Kadet('66 I think), '76 Mercury Capri, 2 '69 Camaro's and my last non-Ford, an '82 Firebird. Been nothing but Mustang's since 1985 when I bought my first new car, an '85 GT.

I was 7 drifting a Chevelle through a train station parking lot with my Father for having a good report card. Since then, straight A's and license suspended twice! Twist is I have a great job now and can afford a good attorney, plus I'm old and don't want to pile up a car I have payments on!

I was never really big into cars until I met my friend with an 03 GT convertable. It was great fun crusing around in it and when he got a new exhaust, headers pipes etc about a year later, he got cams is and...MAN I loved that sound. Just hearing the rumbling sound gets me pumped about muscle cars.
PS. He just recently traded in his Acura RSX Type S for a 97' GT SVO Supercharged and just put some Mac LT's and a prochamber on it.

My dad was my early inspiration as he was a drag racer in the early '60s. His first drag car was a '57 Chevy that he blew up 3 times. From that point on, no more GM products in our family! His next car and my inspiration was a '62 Galaxie 500 (an original 406 tripower car). He bought a 427 from Woody Anderson Ford and replaced the 406. This car was raced in the area for several years (Courtland, Baileyton, etc.).
After earning my own money, I bought my first car at 16, a '64 1/2 Poppy Red Mustang Coupe. From that point on, I've had:
1974 Javelin AMX
1977 Mercury Capri II
1969 302 Mustang Coupe (Green)
1965 Mustang 2+2 (white)
1968 Mustang Coupe (Green)
1969 428CJ Mach 1 (Maroon)
1969 428SCJ Mach 1 (Maroon)
1969 428SCJ Mach 1 (Ivy Green)
1970 Boss 302 (Calypso Coral)
1970 Boss 302 (Grabber Orange)*
1969 428SCJ Fairlane Cobra (Indian Fire)
1967 Fairlane 500 XL (Red) (429 PI powered)
1961 Galaxie Starliner (Red) (428 powered)
1967 Shelby GT-500 (Black)
1966 Shelby GT-350H (black)*
1982 Mustang GT (Silver)
1985 Mustang GT (White)
1990 Mustang GT (Black)
1993 Mustang Cobra (Red)*
1970 Mustang Mach 1 (Green) 351C 4 speed
1964 1/2 Mustang Coupe (Black)
1964 Unique Motorcars 289FIA Cobra replica (Teal)
1970 Mach 1 (Green) 351C automatic
1969 Mach 1 428SCJ 4 speed (Freudian Guilt - special order color)*
1995 Ford F-150 (302)*
* - cars I still own - currently looking for a '71-'74 Pantera
(also bought all the wife's cars - 4 Toyotas, 1 Mazda, 1 Inifiniti, 1 VW)
These were all running, driving cars - no projects here.

My car obsession started with my dad. He had a 72 Torino that he used to race around the streets with up in ffice:smarttags" /><ST1lace w:st="on">TN.</ST1lace> My uncle always told a story about being pulled over just so the cops could have him tell my dad to slow down. They couldn't catch dad!! From there dad always watched NASCAR when I was young and the cars still resembled what you could buy. Once I was old enough to be of use in the garage I was always "helping". Dad still helps me now and I've gotten him into Autocross and we're looking at doing time trials if we can get our race car legal for it.
Cars I've owed? Short list:
82 T-bird (dad's car and handed down to me at 16 totaled at 16)
87 T-bird (bought by me to replace the 82, only a 3.8L but plenty to get me in trouble)
96 Mustang GT (blew up the 87 due to a faulty water pump install)
93 Probe GT(the race car, actually dad’s the owner but we do about the same amount of work on it and driving of it)

lol, mgreene, thats a heafty list of pleasure machines...i hope i can get a list as long as some of ya'lls.
Byron, hopefully the cops will have that problem with me in the future...
i went looking out of curosity what a boss 429 69-70 would cost, and they are pricey....so maybe i can find a shell and start from there.

The Start.
I suppose it was that little tricycle I pedaled madly around the apartment complex hour upon hour before age 5. Then I was helping my father rebuild his 1931 Ford Model A pick up truck around age 5. Well actually at that time it was turn these nuts and bolts and get them as tight as you can or hold this or that.
I was nuts over the new Mustangs in 1964 but being age 10 with a father that saw no use in “new cars” as he loved the Model A Ford, I was out of luck. I knew what a Cobra was but they might has well cost millions of dollars from my point of view then. In 1967 I bought a Honda S65 motorcycle new with grass cutting money at age 13. In 1969 I begged for a new Boss 302 Mustang but dad said no. (I started saving funds for a Cobra in 1969 and it took until 1983 for the curves of my money and their cost to cross and get one.) I used my money from cutting grass and working on other people’s cars to buy a 1966 Mustang coupe in 1970 after the pleas for a 1970 Boss 302 were ignored. In 1972 I bought a nice used 1970 Boss 302 and enjoyed it for the next half dozen years more than any car I have ever had. After that quite a few cars, trucks, and tractors came and went. I have never owned a backhoe, semi-truck, or bulldozer but they sound fun.
