hey guy's! I just wanted to introduce myself, Im Jon I am 20 and I drive a 97 cobra (black). I came to the sears show and i stopped at a meet way back in august, but do to school i wasnt able to go to others, I have also been to a few DQ events. very nice cars and very nice people you have in this club, I will be doing my best to come to more meeting's this year!

 

Hi Jon, I'm the guy who ran into you today at the PX. Try and make it to the meet next month and I'll bring my predator tuner.

Just for everyone's info, He's having a charging/ starting problem. Every couple of days the car has to be jumped if I remember correctly.

I imagine it may be a ground problem or maybe even a bad alternator. I think I can pull the vehicles voltage with the predator, he has stock everything other than some 95R rims and flowmaster exhaust.

As far as your charging problem might want to check your amps if you have the Mach audio system installed (not sure what came with the 97's). They have been known to go bad and drain your battery. I have seen it happen a couple of times.

Did you check the alternator fuse located in the fusebox under the hood ?

 

yes i have the mach 460, the alt. is less than a year old, but I will check that fuse right now. thanks for the imput!!!

Get those amps checked out or at least disconnect them. See if your problem goes away.

 

not the fuze either actually now that you mention amps, my bass did go out about a month or 2 ago the speakers still play just no bass? haha i guess ill have to keep driving a round every day till i can get together with you workman, thanks for the imput guys!

well, i took the battery back abd they told me it tested defective, humm.
well see how she starts in the morning. one question when i had the hot wire on and went to put on the neg, it sparked a little is that normal?

1) Would love to see pics of the rims if they are 5-lug. I am contemplating the 5-lug rear disc kit I have for my 84 while I am rebuilding the drivetrain.

2) Yes, it is normal. There are all kinds of electronics that have an "On all the time" draw. Even the light underneath your hood could do it. Now, "how much" is normal is the subjective guess.

im am asking 350$ for the rims, they are in good cond. one has a little curb rash, the others are all good. they do come with tires 2 85% tread 2 prob will need replaced. thanks..Jon
