T5

Ok so the T5 in my 67 hasn't been correct since I rebuilt it.
Well since I pretty much have the 67 sold I need to get this fixed soon. So I'm looking for a good T5, or a place to rebuild my T5 for a decent price.

It is 3rd and reverse that are messing up on my T5.

If you want to have it done here, I can't say enough about Andy Wittschen, a sponsor of this club.
Andy's Mustang Repair.

You can also get a rebuilt unit from Tony (great guy) and you send your core in. See the URL below.

Another idea is to do it yourself. Get a video from Hanlon Motorosports and a few special tools and have at it. I have a 12-ton shop press if you would like to borrow it. A couple of folks have. :-)

Well it was already in pieces when I got it. There were also new gears and stuff to put in. I rebuilt this one and didn't do it right.

No, I believe we threw out the old I6 driveshaft. I think the T5 and 3 speed yoke are different.

Hmmmm....
Not to be the southend of a north-facing horse, but what did you use to help you rebuild it? There are lots of measurements that need to be made and adjusted to rebuild one right. What kit did you use? Did you inspect and debur the gearset and shaft?

The T5 is easy to rebuild, but you need to make sure you are doing all that the tranny needs to be a successful rebuild. If you want to try it again, I'd be happy to have you come over here and we do it one weekend I am in town.

I never measured anything.

I'm going to try and pick one up on Tuesday. There are a couple over on hsvracing.

Ah.
I can bet that is the reason your rebuild did not last very long. There are some critical measurements and when I did mine, they were off and needed shims to be correct.

What are you going to do with the old one?

My rebuild didn't last at all. It has done this since I rebuilt it. I just haven't had time, money, or a reason to fix it.

I'll probably get it rebuilt and sell it or something I don't really know.

I have my T5 back now. Andy took care of my as soon as I arrived. It wasn't 5 minutes before I was watching him tear down my T5. He found that the fork for 5th was almost cracked completely and the shaft for that fork had a bent ****.

Afterward while I was at work he found that my shifter was also messed up and replaced it for me, as well as my speedo gear.

Andy was very helpful and charged a very reasonable price.

Looks like I'll be taking the mustang up there this time. 3rd gear still isn't correct and I'm not dropping the transmission again.
