Sick 65 GT

Finally got the old beast "street-worthy". Still had a little valve-tap(I think). One day, the noise got worse, then I started trailing white smoke. Stabled it, after that. Cranking the car is still no more difficult than it ever was. Smoking does not begin, right away; only after a warm up. Very repeatable.

What a head-ache

This sounds like more repair than I should attempt.

Who put the engine in? Is it a rebuild, or crate? Are you looking for someone to do it for you?

This car was bought, with original engine, in '72, maybe. The engine was rebuilt, in a few years, due to driver negligence. I married the car in 1980 and it has had no major engine work, since. So, I believe it is the original 289 block.

Yes, I am looking for a healer.

I recommend calling one of our club's sponsors.

Andy Wittschen of Andy's Mustangs
You can reach him at 256-828-5388.
Tell him Ralph sent you.
He does excellent and fast work.
He got my busted transmission done in a day.
Had my fuel pump done quick, too.

In hospital

Toted the baby up to Andy's, Monday. Forgot to tell him Ralph sent me. I did tell him there was no big rush. Probably why I haven't heard from him, yet.

worse than imagined

Andy says there is considerable oil in #4 cyl and suggested a rebuild, since the investigation would require pulling the engine, anyhow. I approved it.

Guessing yours is the yellow one? Went up there today and dropped my transmission off and saw that one. Also had a nice blue 65-66 coupe there.

Yellow it is

So, what did you see? I haven't talked to Andy, since I committed to the rebuild.

It was outside in front of one of the doors. I didn't really look at it or get a good look in the shop to see if the engine was out and being worked on.
