Shaker??

I am trying to decide if I want a Shaker. Does it add any extra horsepower? What brand is best? I looked at the one on americanmuscle. How does it compare to others? Any comments is greatly appreciated!

The shaker doesn't add any noticable horsepower. It's mainly for looks. CDC is your best bet as far as brand. I always liked the look of the hood scoop but didn't like that it wasn't functional. Granted it's a little pricey but if you look around on eBay you could find some pretty good deals. I got mine last Dec. off eBay for $549.00 free shipping. I like it for two reasons... 1. It's funtional and I like to see it shake when I get on the gas. 2. You don't see many S197's with the shaker so it's unique.
I'll be at the Woody Anderson cruise in this Saturday so if you want you're more than welcome to come by and take a look.

If you want the option of going back original, I have a hood with the hole already cut for the CDC shaker and have a template to verify the location. The hood is white and therefore would have to be painted to your color. I believe the only other piece you would need to go back 'stock' would be the air cleaner box. It's been awhile since I last installed one, but I think the whole process including cutting the hood took me about 5 hours, and I measured about 10 times and cut once! I'll take $300 for the hood. kennyg
