Performance brake pads

I have a 2007 Mustang GT. I currently have stock brake pads. I have started autocross racing my car so I want some that will hold up more and increase my stopping. Suggestions???

It seems as if Hawk is a preferred brand. Would I need the Hawk ceramic or Hawk HP Plus?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

These supposedly compare to the Hawks for a better price. Would Wagner be trustworthy?

HPS would be the minimum, HP Plus a good idea but can get to squealing and dust more than the HPS, and much much more than ceramics (Hawk ceramic are basically for less noise and dust).

Lisa, now that you are getting into this, brakes are a big system. It's not just the pads, but the rotors, fluid, cooling, and other components. You are subjecting the car to more heat and performance than an daily driver. Once you start racing it, you will find that things such as rotors are now something that you change a lot. Especially if you go to ceramics. May want to talk with some folks that have beentheredonethat so as not to reinvent the wheel (pun intended).

Sam Strano is the man for autocross (multi time national champ in the S197 Mustangs) and sells Hawk, give him a call and ask what her recommends first:

Keep the stock pads. Autocrossing isn't about the car, it's about the driver. Don't chase the equipment. It's better than most people give credit. Spend the money on seat time and improve your skills.

Bigger brakes and better fluid are all designed for heat mitigation. You won't have those problems in autocross. When you're ready for open track, then we'll talk about brakes.

BTW, there's another chance to run with NASA. It's May 21-22 at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway.

put your money in motor mods .. would`nt getting away from a corner quicker be better than stopping at one ?

I really need to upgrade my brake pads, since they are still stock. I have discovered that the key to getting around a corner quick is all about your apex, not torque or brakes.

That seems to be a contradiction.

Upgrade your pads after you wear them out. Even if your times suffer a tenth of a second, who cares? Unless the prize will pay for your pads, what are you gaining?

I think this is the best brand for the brake pads as i am using pads till date without any problems which i was bought from theautopartsshop.com
