new project direction

ok, well im finally done with school for now so i can spend a little more time on other projects now. 1 being a TT302 240z the other being a powder coating hobby i'll be picking up as soon as i get an oven.

but the is about the 302. ralph i'll need your help fairly often being it was your block, i lost all the info on it for some reason when i moved again, so if you could what is the rebuild kit i need to order and from where.

some of the things im lacking that i will be needing is a set of heads intake and ECU..i will slowly be gathering parts here an there. the main goal of this project is an old school junkyard hotrod style build. it is meant to surprise people on the street/ track.

let me know thoughts and ideas/ helpful information....i will be looking to you "older" ( its a relative term) more experienced guys to help me build the engine properly.

It's just a regular 93 5.0 block. Has not been bored, but does have a .010/.010 crank kit. This means that the crank is ground .010" down and the rod and crank bearings are .010" over. It still has the stock hypereutectic pistons. Stock 93 cam.

Any kit will do. I am not a fan of kits at the moment. I bought one, then still bought better gaskets. So, it ended up costing me more money than it should have.

You will be okay just buying name-brand stuff.

I'm assuming "TT302" means twin turbo? If that's the case, I'd bet the stock hypereutectic might last week or two with a heavy foot...

Looking for a CHEAP/FREE houshold oven? Look around at some of the Thrift stores around town. They practicaly give that type of stuff away. Also, watch the curb, there's alot of 'flipping of houses' going on around here and perfectly good stuff gets thrown away. kennyg

Help the ignorant (me).

I thought that the hypers were more susceptible to damage due to detonation, not more pressure. Yet, I can see the thinking.

Regardless, I have heard people that just do not want to have them in their engine.

Yep, but since turbos are notorious for increasing heat and inherently compression (pressure), unless you have your timing and fuel supply correctly setup just right, detonation is very likely...

Sheesh, I thought a TT302 was for Time Trials. Seems like a huge project that would take a great deal of money and time to ever get on the road. I'd stick an OEM drivetrain in it and head to Steak n Shake.

My thoughts, exactly. I'm thinking $20,000 for a correctly setup, tuned, reliable twin turbo 302.
