Hi everybody! Name's Jason, been to a few of the yearly shows in Huntsville and entering some of my older cars in it, a 55 F-100 and a 97 Cobra Vert, both of which I do not own anymore, but my current ride is an all original blue/titanium 93 GT. I finally broke down a join the RCMC club. I hope to make this months' meeting, but it may be April or May, before I can actually get to one. I also plan on attending the yearly show at the mall this year again and would also be interested in a few cruises in the fall, if yall still have them? See yall later! Jason
hey ive been a member for a year and still havent made it to a meeting... ah too much goin on i guess. At least i'll be able to enter the car show this year since my membership will be over with.. welcome!
Thanks! I got a small problem though. Yesterday, I took my wife for a ride in the car, (since she hadn't rode in it yet), and the belt flew off... Maybe some of you can tell me if the harmonic balancer is supposed to wobble, while the car's running? If not, then that's why the belt flew off
Most of the time the ring is only bad. It's easy t opull it off and replace it. If you have a stock engine, just go with a stock replacement.
The toughest part is putting one back on. You may have to wipe the crank with some emory cloth to get the balancer to slide on better. A bit of grease also helps. Be careful about drawing it on with the bolt.

The outer ring is held onto the inner hub by rubber. It is the rubber that goes bad. When you take it back off, verify that it is in good shape and the hub and ring are not separating. If it is not in good shape, replace it.
Follow my advice above and it should go on easier. If you would like help, just ask.

My two cents, If its a dampner, replace it. Stock dampners are cheap..replace it. If you repair / re-assemble the old one and it comes off later you will take out radiators, fans, hoods ect. Besides everytime you rev it up you are going to wonder if its holding together.
****, any fellow mechanics wanna swing by my place one afternoon and make sure we are all talking about the same thing?? I'll pay you for coming all the way here. I might check it out again tonight, to see exactly what's going on down there. Don't worry, I don't drive it. I've driven it 3 times in 2 months, each time, I find something else wrong with it, LOL.
Get a digital picture of it and post it up or send it to me. What general area is the car located? You may have said before but what motor is it? year and model. I may be able to get you a good price on a dampner if that is whats wrong.
