most set-ups work opposite (dvd to vhs) which is dumb these days. i have a dvd recorder, but not sure how to hook up a vhs to input. i just use it to record straight from satellite.

Some newer video cameras have a pass through that will let you run a VHS tape's output through the camera and convert it to digital and pass the output to your computer where it can be saved to the hardrive. Then many available software products (Roxio, Adobe Premier, etc.) can be used to burn a DVD. If you don't have access to one of these cameras, there is also the Canopus ADVC converter (look it up via Google), or you'll need a video capture card for your computer.

I have the stuff to do it, but not at my fingertips right now.

Michael, all you do is take the RCA outs of the VCR and put them to the RCA ins of the DVD Recorder.

I have a DVD player that plays MPEGs,AVI,etc. (cost me $40 at Circuit City)
I just play the file on CD or DVD on it and patch it to my DVD recorder.
