We have been in touch with mustang enthusiest mag over the past couple of weeks. They are VERY interested in us having a all mustang race to myrtle beach.

We have about 5 sponsors lined up already and 6 people signed up for this event. We need people to run in this from out west to the alabama area.. we will meet up somewhere in nashville or birmingham AL and head out of a specific spot there and run straight thru to MB!! Race will end at the round track in MB during the track day.

Rules are NO SPEDING TICKETS if you get pulled over you are disqualified.

You will be running sponsors stickers on the quater panels of your car and a number on each door.

This event will be covered by mustang enthusiest magazine and winners and participants will be recieving prizes from the sponsors.

This is gonna be a blast to do!!!! I'll get more details up as soon as we get them ourselves. Feel free to ask questions too I'll do my best to answer.

No speeding tickets...I guess you will have to go fast enought to lose any pursuers.

 

entry fees? winner gets? specific route? radar detectors allowed? how are you gonna prove that I get a ticket?

btw, the cops are gonna want to run radar at the time....there will be speed traps galore.

We are still working out the details with the guy at mustang enthusiest. We have sponsors who are gonna do the prizes.. T shirts, gift cards..parts perhaps. Everyone will take the same route we will probably get it off mapquest.. and there will be checkpoints at this time. Probably at ford dealerships along the way every so often. You HAVE to stop get signed in stay for 30 minutes clock back out and on the road! We have a lot of planning to do here so i'll keep ya updated

Mustang Week alone is worth the money going to! Its a blast over there. It will be held july 23-29. More mustangs than you could ever imagine there! I went in 2005 with my old blue boss and had a great time. You'll love it $1000 outside of hotel room and you can have a ton of fun. We always hit up the nascar cafe go karts them suckers are fast!!!

 

I would be interested but, my Stang is nowhere near up to par with traveling that far.... Sounds like it would be a blast, maybe you'll have another one next year, would love to go

Ralph could probably go into a little more detail about this. It is my understanding that this is not an RCMC sanctioned event and the RCMC can not and will not be held liable in the event of a catastrophic occurrence. The creator of the event would be top of the list of liable.
You might want to consult someone on this aspect of the event that has had experience with driving events on public roads, highways etc.

 

Well, I'm not going unless I get a detailed accounting of exactly what I'd get out of it.

 

we are still in the early stages of the sponsors. So far we have 6 i think i counted yesterday. Paul my hubby is doing all the talking as im not too great with talking to people lol We're talking with 5.0 magazine at this moment..trying to talk them into covering it. OR allowing us to..uhm.. waiting to hear back from several people. Other things im holding off on posting untill they are finalized though. And we have spoken to a local lawyer about the laws and such on having this type of road event. We want everyone to be safe and have fun at this.

This is a do at your own will type event.. like drag days and other track events. Although we are asking nicely to only do the average over the speed limit numbers. No one will be held responsible for anything.

As far as I know right now if this goes down as a rally/race type event the sponsors will be giving out some pretty nifty stuff. We asked them to not nickle and dime it.. just some goos stuff.

But if we decide to give the race part the hack and just have a rally/cruise to myrtle beach its just for fun on that looooooong drive.
