meeting place

has anyone thought about changing up our meeting location?

i would love to do something where we go to different places each month.
this way we could try new things, new places and have fun doing it.

i know of several places that offer a room similar to west end grille.

and who knows maybe we can even get a group discount.

Mark, when you constantly change the place where a group or club meets anyone else who is interested in attending and possibly joining does not know where you will be. Therefore, we need to find a place big enough to hold us and stay there. Our present place obviously is not big enough.

Skip talks wisdom. It's a big chore trying to find a place that will take us in the first place. They have to give us a room that we can block off. So when people come to only have an iced tea, they lose area to be making money. Changing it up every month would be a logistical nightmare.

I haven't seen any people standing where we are at. Do we really need a bigger place?

I think you can rent the Jaycee building for meetings. If you wanted food everyone who wanted to could pick up something and bring it with them. Nice big parking lot!

I believe there are basics of a meeting place:

Free.
Offers food.
Has room for the group and a way to shut off from the rest of the clientele.
A location central to most.

I don't like the idea of paying out money for a meeting place. Too many others have offered us a place for free.

But wouldn't it be nice to have a large room that you could come ahead and setup your presentation if need be? A place that you didn't feel like you were pinched for time or had to rush? A place with plenty of parking that in appropriate weather you could kick tires or even drive a little and not worry about being run out because "paying customers" were waiting?

You could spend $50 - $100 a month on a place like the Jaycees building and have room for the club to grow and not feel cramped but not break the clubs bank account.

I'd be glad to host a meeting in my garage. While I agree that it's dangerous to play meeting roulette (burn bridges and find yourself in the cold), it would be fun to move the meeting around.

I can pass out sandpaper and we can all sand on my Mom's Miata that I promised to bring back to life.

I dont know how many SE Hsv members would be affected, but I stopped going to TAC meetings when they went out to Greenbrier....that's 26 miles away from me. Im not across the river either, Im close to Grissom HS.

So, ya, Id call that 'not quite central'

Mark volunteered to make a presentation about his American Iron roadracing Mustang (NASA-SE). I think he is to be commended for stepping forward to kick off this initiative in style.

The only problem with that is, when we had our golf team ceremonies there, they took forever getting us our food. but that is a central location

That's much better for me, only 35 miles from home in Tennessee. I like the Meteor Buffet and they have alot of other selections like pizza and fried chicken. Also have a big parking lot. Come to think of it we met there when it was Quincys or something, I think that was on the list of closings. We first closed Bonanza on University place, that is were the organization meeting and the first RCMC meetings were held in 1980. kennyg
