Ford Air filters

So, I stop by the local Ford dealership the other day to pick up the wifes car from being repaired. It was a idler pulley problem. While there I figure I'll pick up an Air filter for the car since it is approaching 30,000 miles. Total cost $30+

On the way home I stop by Advance to pick up some of those safety valve stem caps that tell you when your air pressure is low. Lame I know; My wifes idea of the tire needs air is when it is flat. I figure this will be cheap insurance for me while I am away next year.

Since I'm there I check for another air filter. STP...total cost $10. When I get home I decide to look and see the difference between a $30 and $10 air filter. THEY WERE THE SAME FILTER, FROM COLOR, DOWN TO THE PART # AND FORD LOGO!!!!!!! Actually they were different in one way..... The STP one had attempted to hide the Ford logo with a magic marker.

Needless to say, I'm taking the "FORD" one back.

When you go back to the dealership tell them you're a member of the Mustang club and see what your discount would have been.

So you're saying that for normal customers, they rip you off with a 300% markup? While I'm grateful Woody gives us money for the club, this is yet another reason I won't do business with them (along with their "market adjustment" for performance cars, etc.)

Yeah, I'm torn too. I want to support Woody in return for supporting us. I'll send my wifes' car there for any warranty work vs pearlman lincoln which is much closer to us.

I just hate to throw cash away. I remember posting something on here before about dealer markup and a person chimed in about how "they" (I believe they worked at Woody Anderson) hate that Ford makes Woody Anderson do that..........Maybe theres more to the OEM retail part buisness that I don't know.

I never said what they do is right, I just said when he went back to tell them he was club member and see what his discount would have been.
