Chrome/Powder Coat
Which one of the two is cheaper? Chrome or Satin Silver?
Also who in town does them?

Thats a personal preferance issue. Personally I am not a huge fan of chrome, I prefer the machined look. I would think that that chrome would be more expensive, its a more labor intensive process, a la more expensive.

I think the chrome I would want would be even more. I have been thinking about Black Chrome. Then I got the idea about powder coating Satin Silver or maybe even Candy Apple Red. Don't think that would look right though.
BA, Check out this thread http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=451048 . You might talk with workmangc about buying a powdercoating kit to experiment with. kennyg
I like the satin silver idea, if I'm thinking the same color you are, Ford used a color called Argent on 68/69 styled steel wheels. I've seen a good selection of 'wheel' paints at the major auto parts stores, this would be a cheaper alternative to powder coating. Take your grille mesh out and wash it good with a scuff pad and dishwashing liquid, allow to dry good out in the sun. Place the grille face down and paint the back first with light coats allowing each to dry before applying more. Starting with the back will prevent you from scratching the business side when you discover some bare spots showing through. Now repeat by painting the outside. While the grille is drying, clean, scuff, mask off, and repaint with semi-gloss black paint, the radiator support and lightly spray the radiator for a consistent look. Now, just my opinon, use your original horse and corral, and purchase a set of GT light bars, amber bulbs would look great too! Clean up your chrome parts, then mask the areas to remain chrome, scuff the original argent/silver areas and paint them Candy Apple Red! I think this would give you a very unique look at an affordable price along with an original looking grille! kennyg

That idea you have sounds great. If I can get my paint matched or make sure it is really candy apple red I will attempt this.

I think you can find a red spray paint close to the color of your Mustang at the same store you buy the silver. Since the portions of the grille that will be red and the body will be seperated by the silver, a slight mismatch won't be noticeable. Good luck on the upgrade, take some before, during, and after pics. If you do convert to the GT lights later, you could add another toggle switch for them. kennyg
chrome is more exspensive.. in a few weeks im going to start doing it myself. Then later on perfressionally. But on a personal note..chrome powder coat just looks as sick as true chrome if done correctly.

I wasn't even considering black..... It was Satin Silver, but I am going to experiment with what kennyg said. Also chrome scratches and powder coat doesn't.
