Air Shocks?

Hey, does anyone on here know if there is a max limit of psi for any certain type of air shock? I got my 68 back from the shop wednsday and I noticed that my back end was a little low. Since I have air shocks in the back I figured that they had just lost air. Now I want to know what the max psi for my shocks is? Can anyone help me?

The max is probably over 100... don't even think about going there.
Airshocks are not the best thing to have on a car.
Running them at low psi 20-30 probably won't hurt anything though.
What brand are they?

To be honest, I've got no clue. The person who had it before me put it on. I'd have to look. Ok, right now they're at 20-30 but the problem is that I cant see anything out my rear view mirror so I do need to raise them up a bit. Thanks for your help

You need new springs in the back.
How new are the ones in the front?
You can damage the shock mounts (break them off in an old car) if you use them to hold the car up instead of springs.

He might be right. Measure your height from the middle of the fender arc where the wheel well is. Make sure it is on a level surface. Then post that on here.

Here is a good answer for you.
Seeing as air shocks are ill advised for a Mustang, I'd say 0psi.
Too much stress on the upper mounting points, the weight of the car belongs on the springs, not the shocks.

Rogue could also tell you about this. He told me he had to get new leaf springs because the air shocks were stressing to hold the car up.

Yeah the shocks in front r brand new, as is everything, BA Mustang should know that and the ones in front r gas. That makes a lot of since that the air shocks would be getting to much stress on them so i'll leave them alone for now. Ill check on those springs but after replacing the whole front end, i dont know if I want to mess with the back for a while.

Springs will cost you about 75 each not counting the shackles, mounting bolts, u-bolts and u-bolt nuts.

After replacing the front end, you have made the car dangerous until you fix the rear.
Besides no matter what the shock pressure you are running the risk of braking the shock mounts.
Sitting still everything is resting on the shocks.
The springs can do nothing but bounce up and all over the place, no down.
Try not to drive over 30 until it is fixed. Please!!!

if the shocks are brand new than something else is wrong here...

Even more replies about air shocks.

He needs to spend a couple more bucks on leaf springs if he wants to actually fix it. A set of OE leafs isn't that much, something like $150 with the hardware and all. Better than what he'd pay to repair the upper shock mounts when the air shocks tear through them.
Air shocks are a big no no on a unibody car they can and will punch through the top shock mount leaving a big nasty hole to fix.Only cheap safe way to raise up the rear is a add a leaf most auto part stores sell them.It will raise up the rear but might make it ride a little stiffer tho.

Ok ok, looks like ive got some more work this summer. What if I just buy new rear shocks, they dont even have to be air shocks obviously. i also like the re arching idea. Anything else I need to look at, lol?

It will help alittle. Might make the rear even lower due to the air shocks being pumped up unlike the regular shocks.

They're not even pumped up right now, they're at about 20 psi and thats where they're staying till i figure this out. Might refinish the leaf springs or sumthin like that

I don't know of a place around here that will do that. The 4x4 and rock crawler places might.

Also depends on where you get your leaf springs. How much they will cost.
