65 Mustang Sale

There is an estate sale on Nottywall road in Owens Cross Roads that includes a 65 Mustang. They will be taking sealed bids on this car through this evening. The car is a fixer-upper but appears does not appear to have any rust holes and such. It has been in a closed barn and the licenst plate says 1987 as last issue date. I dont know much about the first gen stangs, just putting the info out.

You can also see the car on the alpha estate sales webpage. Click on the house with the nottywally address.

Take care all.

Saw this forum thread, found the location (not easy), and went during lunch. Car is outside in front of the house. Driving up it looked real nice. Up close inspection is completely different. It is definitely a full-time project car. Lower left quarter has been patched as has the driver door (not pro done). Paint is "interesting"; couldn't determine if it has the adobe/red primer with a very thin silver/grey on top or if it's a thin re-paint....hmmm. Engine is the Sprint 200 and tranny is covered in very wet and grimy oil. Interior needs a complete re-do which is expected. Most rust appears to be surface although passenger floor is very weak. Couldn't crawl underneath to verify real issues, but I'm more apt to believe it needs a complete resto.

In all, some would think it's a manageable undertaking, but for me I think it's too big a task. Probably get the car (really) fairly reasonable. If someone hears how the sealed bid goes, let us know. I'm curious if my guess is close.

75% of 66 sprints were an auto. My grandfather has a 66 sprint that is a manual.
