By far, the 2001 Bullitt Concept had the best steering wheel I've ever seen on any Mustang.
Had Ford kept the same features and design from the concept on the production version rather than make closer to the standard GT the '01 Bullitt would be the most memorable since the '65 - '70 models.
Ford has a chance to redeem itself and give Bullitt fans a very unique car with the new version. We will see if Ford decides to go the GT/CS route or option for the GT500's.

Just like the 2001 Bullitt was rated at 265hp - just 5hp more than the standard 260hp GT - yet it managed to be a whopping .3 to .5 second quicker in the 1/4 mile! Ford engineers may be maximizing the area under the torque and hp curves and not necessarily focusing on the peaks values. Plus, give the car great understated looks that would make Det Frank Bullitt proud and handling that's better than the soft/heavy standard GT and you've got a car that slots well between the standard GT and the Shelby variants.

Actually Topnotch's initial post of putting a Shelby GT500 steering wheel in the upcoming Bullitt is exactly what they did on the movie Bullitts.
The two original 1968 Bullitt Mustangs had steering wheels from the 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang installed. The wood rimmed Shelby steering wheels were modified with black leather wheel skins and the center medallion base was painted flat black. The gold Shelby medallion remained the same.
Did you also know that the original movie Mustang that Steve McQueen drove in the chase scene had the faux wood dash.
