High resolution photo into 2008 Bullitt tail pipe
I took this Photo into a 2008 Bullitt tailpipe and thought I would post it because I’ve heard some questions about it. This car had 55 miles on it.

There's a lot more to the Bullitt's exhaust than packed tips that gives its unique sound. And apparently, the exhaust gets louder the more you drive it, as it wears in.

Quite right. The more you disturb or change airflow, the more "raspy" it becomes, especially when exiting through a packed exhaust tip.

You don't like the sound level? It's pretty loud, but will get louder in time as the system breaks in.

this i find interesting re the quieter exhaust system over the gt. it sounds like the engineers really did make the bullitt a sleeper, not just in appearance but also how much audible attention it draws...i must say that when i hear a gt go by and it burbles on the decel it is a sweet sound...

The Bullitt seems to have less cabin road noise though

Initially, I was disappointed with how quiet the Bullitt sounded when I first drove it. It was winter, so the I had the windows up.
I put the windows down and it sounds totally different. With the windows down you can hear the back pressure exhaust pop when coasting. Under acceleration the exhaust note becomes raspy when hitting 3,000 rpm and higher. That car is quiet when cruising down the highway.
My dad took my Bullitt for a spin and I was driving my quiet Taurus SHO. He nailed the Bullitt as he passed me doing about 60 mph. That car sounds nicer outside the car than inside. It had a deep throaty raspy sound to it. After hearing the it outside I became pleased with the exhaust sound. It truly sounds like no other late model Mustang I have heard. It does not have that distinctive exhaust tone that most 86-present Mustangs have.

In most instances if the sound is loud enough to please the driver inside with the car buttoned up, it wont's sound so great outside, and most definitely be too loud.
Ford has this system about perfect IMO.
Try driving the car and double clutch (up and down, the technique is different for each as I'm sure you know) with the window down. You will like the exhaust note with the engine working like that.

My 07 Mustang Gt had a full SLP loudmouth system in it. And it sounded GREAT! The problem was, I had to be careful that I didn't get in trouble with it !
Some times I had to leave home at 6-am , it would be impossible not to wake up the neighbors .
I wish my Bullitt was louder . I do love the way it starts quite and then gets louder as it warms up.
