Interesting comparison of the 2 (440 Charger and 390 GT) in MotorTrend
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ecs_price.html
1968 Dodge Charger R/T
Base price $3480
Engine 440 cu in/375 hp/480 lb-ft OHV 16-valve V-8
Transmission 3-speed auto
Curb weight 3970 lb
Wheelbase 117.0 in
Length x Width x Height 208 x 76.6 x 53.2 in
0-60 mph 6.5 sec (MT Dec 1967)
1/4 mile 14.9 sec @ 95.0 mph
1968 Ford Mustang GT (390)
Base price $2737
Engine 390 cu in/335 hp/427 lb-ft OHV 16-valve V-8
Transmission 3-speed auto
Curb weight 3623 lb
Wheelbase 108.0 in
Length x Width x Height 183.6 x 70.9 x 51.6 in
0-60 mph 7.8 sec (MT Jan 1968)
1/4 mile 15.2 sec @ 94.0 mph
So if with the milled heads; ignition and carburator mods, it was faster than stock and slower than a 68 440 Charger then:
0-60 between ~6.6 and ~7.7 seconds
1/4 mile between ~15.0 and ~15.1

OK, here y'all are, a few more tidbits, courtesty of IMBOC >>
My source (management at the Flat Rock Mustang plant) told me recently that:
Bullitts are scheduled to begin production in December of 07 and should begin to arrive at the "stealers" in January or possibly February. The Bullitt will likely be a 2008 1/2.
Orders may be placed two or three months before production.
The new Bullitt will be a numbered serialized car, not sure just how the number will be displayed.
The talk seems to be that 7000 units will be built, possibly more or less depending on Bullitt sales. I don't think there should be a problem getting one. I got the feeling that Ford will make all that are ordered by the end of 2008 ordering time. Could they continue into the next model year??????? There was NOT a definite "no" to that question. (remember the 03 Mach)
The colors will include green (HG) for sure and possibly black, no word about other colors yet.
Even though the new Bullitt sounds a lot like the Shelby GT, I was reminded that Shelbys will come off the line and go to Shelby in Arizona for conversion of special Shelby parts. (seems to me that there must be a lot of additional cost to do it this way)
Bullitts will come off the line finished and ready to be shipped to the "stealers". So, as long as the Shelby is taking all the attention and the Bullitt is complete from the Ford assembly line, the Bullitt should be a better value. (we'll hope)
No info on horsepower or special intake and there is an attempt to keep the Bullitt quiet to let the Shelby get the attention and then the attention will go to the Bullitt to keep the hot Mustang news flowing non-stop.
A pre-production Bullitt has apparently been built but my source does not know if it will be on display at the NAIAS. I suspect probably not especially given the list of show cars others have posted.
It sounds like our original Bullitts will be the more limited edition as there will probably be more than 5582, 2008 Bullitts.
AND: Apparently the Boss is being delayed to "do it right".

That background with those cone pines look very familiar, very familiar indeed.

There was a pic of a prototype which started to circulate back in 2004, it had those kind of plants and the car was kind of light brown in color, similar to clay. I say Topnotch just called a misdirection play.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of BullittHeads. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at TMS expense.
