Bullitt will have 3.73 gears from the factory. Could this mean a GG tax? *gasp*

I'm not sure if this has been spotted yet, but I found something you all might be interested in on the FRPP homepage. See attached, it's the 4th or 5th image running on a cycle in the "Hot New Parts" window.
Think this and a few engine tweaks might add up to a GG tax? Lets hope not!

That is the word. Detuned down to 312HP will eliminate the GGT. I have also been told you will be able to have the dealer retune for a price to get the HP back but you will have to run 93.

You are indeed correct. The Bullitt will be factory tuned for regular fuel thus eliminating the GG tax.

Yes sadly SGT has the GGT. It's tuned for 91 octane and has 3:55 gears. Apparently it was very close on the epa test. Passed the first time but failed on the 2nd. http://forum.shelbyautos.com/index.p...indpost&p=2361
Hopefully 08 Bullitt owners will not have to pay this waste of money.

no.
ford has to pass certian test with the epa before they can sell any production cars to the public. i believe this is where they test for the gas tax infringments as well. ford will send preproduction cars with the production tunes to these test. depending on what happens here the entire fleet will be subject to the results until that model is expired.
ex. the 07 gt500 has passed epa but will have to pay 1300 gas tax.
the 08 gt500 did not need to be tested, going by 07 results.
the 09 gt500 would not pass the stricter new 09 epa test. however the 09 gt500 would not need to be tested since it would be grandfathered in on the basis of the 07 test with 07 rules.
any new 09 mustang model/engine/tune would have to pass the new strict 09 epa test.

and to think.....for $1,300 you pay on the Shely GT in a GG tax, you could save your wallet (and the ADM's) buy a stock GT for oh lets say...$30K take the $1,300 you spent on the GG tax buy a CAI with a much better tune, get a much better exhaust and some other bolt ons and you would have a much faster/better car than the SGT for thousands less! Its a known fact that you could buy a stock GT buy the GT/CS facias that are used one EVERY special edition mustang (probably the Bullit as well), the black wheels, the exhaust, the suspension, the CAI and probably still be cheaper than the MSRP + GGT on a SGT

The $1300 cost added for 19 HP is ridiculous. They should of waited and retested. They may have sold more because the price would have dropped $1300.

FYI It's $1000 GGT on the Shelby GT. GT 500 was the one (according to post above) that has the $1300 GGT.
Get a spoiler delete GT/CS at X-plan for around $27-28K with incentives and put another $10k in mods, say a whipple intercooled supercharger for $6500 installed and still have $3-4K for other mods.
You'd have over 100 more horsepower and a very unique car. I thought about going this route myself, but decided I'd rather get the SGT.
Just depends on what u want.

He's my thought on me buying a new mustang. I like S/E models. I like the current body style better than the 2010. Sense I can't afford the dealer mark up on the GT 500, I'm going to wait until summer and maybe by then we'll know if there is going to be a 2009 Boss Mustang. If not, I can chose between a Shelby GT, Bullitt, C/S, Roush, or maybe even a Saleen heritage edition. It's a great time to be a mustang fan. (except for the darn dealer mark ups.)

How can you like the current body style better than the 2010 when the 2010 has never been seen? Are you on the design team or something?

LOL, I wish. I'm a Ford employee. I seen it and the bullitt at the car show ford put on for employee's last year. I can't say much about them because I don't want to get fired. It's kind of fun reading all the speculation on the cars in the Forums.

Sharp...
Can you at least tell us Bullittheads if its only an $1800 pkg that equips this forthcoming model, or are there some things not yet discussed that will leave us pleasantly surprised?

its supposed to get, we're looking at more money for that too. I just don't see Ford charging "too little" for something they can get more for in a S/E. And who really knows exactly what this model is going to come equipped with?
