Actually, a GT500 vert would make a great pace car...though I think it's been done before.

Yes it would, but has it been done? I get the impression it's been some time since a Mustang was used, but maybe that doesn't include Indy Pace cars?

A GT500 was used in yesterday's race, white with blue stripes i believe. at least that's what I saw on ESPN

I thought it was supposed to pace the Nextel Cup Event. I turned it on and saw a white GT500....

i wonder what would happen if a gt500 was pacing them and when the green flag went down the GT500 floored it. would he be killed or would he kill them, without the 155 mph speed limiter too.

Yep, whole different league altogether. A 4.5 second car is SLOW by comparison.
