Question Bullitt Noise Question

Test drove a Bullitt this weekend. Nice, fast and loud. But noticed a pretty loud sucking noise coming from behind the dash after I reached about 35 mph. Came and went depending on the speed. Mentioned to the sales guy (in the back seat) and he said it's "that Volvo that just went by". Sales mgr said it was the CAI. But he also denied there was a $1500 rebate which they later admitted after they realized I already got a quote from them showing the rebate!

Is this just the normal CAI sound? Never heard it on a regular GT. Sounded like a loud vacuum assist openning and closing......maybe something else?

My JLT intake can be heard a bit. That's normal for an open air filter type intake.

I didn't realize that CAI's made such an audible sucking noise inside the cabin. You should be able to hear it, but not be overcome by it. Perhaps this guys hearing is way too good.

It doesn't, at least not in mine. Sounds like the one on the TD had a bad sensor like I had on a '00 GT which was an intermittent and was driving me up the wall.

I had a K&N CAI on a '02 GT which was not only loud (seemed louder than the FlowMasters it had) but extremely annoying. Taking a page from Boomer's evaluation, it really sucked. In more ways than one.

I have 800 miles on my Bullitt. I don't have the sucking noise that is described.

According to two dealerships in my area, the rebate is actually $2500 total and they are honoring it on the Bullitts. I came close to buying a Bullitt twice this month but ended up getting a new 07 Shelby GT for about the same money. Just picked it up today!

BTW, when I test drove the Bullitt, I did not notice any unusual sucking noise.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. The more I think about it, the more it seems something else was going on to make that noise. Sales guy popped that hood later and said "nothing's loose". That's just great. Rebates up here in the Northeast are running at $1500. You get another $1000 rebate down South or other parts of the country. Maybe worth a long ride.....

Read the fine print for some of the extra rebate over the $1500. For some of it you have to finance with Ford at their rate.
It all varies by ZIP code. That's the other thing to check. I think the rebate applies by your residence ZIP Code, not the ZIP the car is sold in.
