I just bought the Bullitt sound track. When I play that "shifting gears" track (the one that plays right before the infamous chase scene), it's all I can do not to light em up and go bananas through the streets of Hampton Roads.

 

You can buy a Bullitt soundtrack?! Where the heck did you buy that? Do tell!

Lalo Schifrin is the composer. He also did the original tv theme song to Mission Impossible, the soundtracks to all the Dirty Harry movies, as well as some other things that were ahead of my time.

I have two copies of the sound track. One still sealed, one in the 2001 Bullitt. Great tunes , full volume , late at night , down twisted back county roads.

Oh now that is freaking awesome!

 

Yeah, you get this awesome sense of familiarity from watching that Stratocaster kick in with the main theme.


Makes me wish I could see the music to Bullitt as it was performed. There's real energy in being there as music is created....

Think I'll rent Bullitt this weekend!

 

He also composed the theme music for the first season of Starsky & Hutch...and he composed the theme song for the British film, The Liquidator, which was sung by Shirley Bassey!

 

What they need on the soundtrack is the chase scene itself!!!

 

There's no music during the actual chase scene.
