The Sun is a tabloid. I'm gonna need a more trustworthy source.

This one came out today (not sure how trustworthy it is, though):

http://www.mustangblog.com/index.php...frank-bullitt/

...citing this source:

http://movies.monstersandcritics.com..._Pitts_Bullitt

I'll reserve the right to doubt all this until I see it listed on IMDB.

(Don't even get me started on the Bullitt car, of which we still don't have any real pics and all the info comes from a guy who knows a guy who heard that some other guy will soon find out when he's gonna see it...).

Not a bad choice. One of the better ones we've got.

Maybe they should have it set in modern times and have Eastwood cameo as fellow SFPD dude Isp. Callahan?

I thought Daniel Craig would've been up for it, after reading this:

(edit: eh, guess that was just pure speculation)

Would Frank visit him at the retirement home?

Once again, this story is bogus.

On IMDBPro, it clearly shows that Pitt's dance card is full through '09, where he has no fewer than NINETEEN projects in various stages of development (some as a producer, some as an actor). And there is absolutely NO mention of a 'Bullitt' remake being in development at all.

Furthermore, Brad Pitt's management don't know anything about the remake or Pitt's involvement. There's a clue, eh?

Craig would be the perfect choice...but he's busy with Bond.

I agree with others that Brad Pitt is a poor fit for the role of Frank Bullitt. Other names mentioned for the role like Nicholas Cage and Daniel Craig are poor choices as well for one reason or another, often despite the fact that the actor himself actually fills the bill quite nicely. IMHO the best choice for Frank Bullitt redux would be Thomas Jane, an exceptional American actor who fits the role in every way but who is unfortunately best remembered for his role as Frank Castle in the latest big screen version of the Punisher, a terrible film which almost certainly did more to hurt his career than it ever could to help it. (one has to wonder how difficult it actually is to turn a great story line like the one we find in Punsiher into a decent movie??)

Perhaps he'll take driving lessons if he is serious about the role. It would be a shame if the driving takes place in a studio a la Nicholas Cage.

Nicholas Cage took driving lessons to do most of the stunts in Gone in 60. The extras on the DVD talk about it.

Yup, that's true. I think the only green screen of him is during the jump scene on the bridge.. but that's only 'cause you really can't jump a car 200 feet off a flatbed. The rest of the shots with his face visible is actually him driving.

Sure.
He was also driving in reverse at high speed and smiling at the kid at the same time. Right.

Half of the scenes had computer graphics, some so unrealistic they defy the law of physics.

actually the backward driving was all done by nicolas cage himself.

In the dvd they talked about how he actually drove faster then the stunt drivers doing it.

I think the best Hollywood could offer today is an actor who would, at most, be only adequate in the role of Lt. Bullitt. None that I could think of would be ideal. Steve McQueen is untouchable as far as I'm concerned.

McQueen is irreplaceable, which is why the movie would never be accepted by true enthusiasts.

Daniel Craig is the closest in spirit.
