Billit.....On a Bullitt....Prelim Pics.....

OK, so we got the Billit grille today, for the Bullitt.... Fantastic service, received it in 2 days. The quality of this grille is outstanding, fit and finish are perfect....

That said, these are prelim pics. The Bullitt trim ring on the stock grille is held on with 3M. It will be coming off, and transferring to the Billit grille, to keep the trademark intact. Also, there is a can of black spraypaint in my future, to clean up what the stock honeycomb grille hid......

Camera died after two pics....but you get the idea......All I can say is, Ford, what were you thinking with those honeycombs....?? I know, history.........

And yes, time to find a lower grille to match as well........

I'm wanting to do the same. Looks good. The trim will finish it nicely.

Whoever came up with the honeycomb either paid to have their car detailed or had very small fingers.

You can sure see why it needs the bright strip.

The Bullitt grille I have shows the strip held on with tabs. Is yours not like that?

From what I can tell, the tabs are strictly guide pins. They do not snap into place, but simply protrude thru the stock grille to the back. In gently pulling the trim ring from the grille, I can see 3M product actually holding it in place.

As soon as I have some time, I will start the process of separating it, and let you know the outcome.

Thanks to all, and Plus one on the honeycomb......

That looks KILLER!!! MUCH BETTER IMO!!! Hey bud, you know you can go over to Pep Boys and buy a flexible chrome stripping material, and just add it to the grill? My buddy did it to his GT/CS and looks real good! Just a thought. Can't wait to see pics when your done.

The grill makes the car look even more cool. I am anxious to see the grill with the Bullitt satin aluminum trim strip. Where did you get the grill? And yes it does now need the lower matching grill.

No, the CDC does not come with the housing around the grille...This is the grille I got. This is the last one they have, that I am aware of.....

So I took the trim ring off the stock grille tonight. As I suspected, 3M tape all around is what holds the trim ring on. The tabs along the bottom are strictly guide pins....I just pryed the trim ring back, and sliced the 3M tape with an exacta knife...fairly simple. Now, for the mounting to the billit grille. There is a bit of a width disparity between the trim ring, and the new billit grille, but I will find a way to deal with it, I hope...

I think CDC has both an overlay type and a complete type.

This is the lower grill that might work for you
