#2522 Arrives At Pgh Dealership
I just got my first look at a Bullitt. Stoltz & Wind Ford in Pgh just took delivery of #2522 and they had just taken the car off the truck - all filthy and dirty. I guess it is like a newborn - not a pretty site until it is cleaned up.
Interesting to note that when the 08 Bullitt was first announced in November this dealership knew nothing about the car, then when I contacted the dealership in December the salesman would order me a "Billet" (he thought it was named after Billet aluminum and knew nothing about the story behind the car) for $5K over MSRP, then in January he was willing to sell me the car for $2K over MSRP, and today he calls me to give me the first chance to see and buy the car at MSRP.
In the meantime, I thought I would visit the dealership just to pick up a Bullitt Hero card and take a look at the car. The Bullitt cards are all gone because they are being sold on ebay for $5 a card, but I did get to finally see a Bullitt.
I had already ordered my Bullitt on December 14 at another dealership. The first time I approached this dealership, the sales manager wanted to play hard ball and sell it to me for $5K over MSRP but after some bitter haggling with him and waiting for him to clear it with the dealership owner he agreed to sell it at MSRP and let me order it the way I wanted. Now I am just waiting to hear from my dealer when it is delivered around the beginning of March I am told. At least my dealer has agreed to let me keep the car in his showroom until the weather permits me to drive it home. It is scheduled for production this week but my blue oval request for an updated status has provided me nothing - despite my recent request for an update.

I am not familiar with the X plan. I thought that you had to be an employee or relative of an employee of Ford to qualify. And I thought that the dealer had to agree to this in advance since his profit is only I believe $750. Since I am not a Ford employee and I already have a signed order and downpayment with my dealer is this possible?

Yes, Woltz & Wind Ford (sorry for the typo) is where I looked at the Bullitt today. Cravelli Ford is where I ordered the Bullitt in December.
But am I correct in that most dealers do not want to take the xplan because they make less from the sale? And since I have no friends or family working for Ford how would I qualify anyway? And doesn't car have to be ordered this way?

It's optional for a dealer to accept it. Many bullitts ahve been purchased on X-Plan.
Any Ford employee or employee of certain Ford affiliates can get you a PIN.
In teh employee forum on BlueOvalNews Ford employees often post they have PINs available, just ask one.
Say it's for a Mustang GT though, there is a self appointed PIN monitor over there that intervenes n every request for a Bullitt saying it doesn't apply.
You might be best to PM one of them that have a post about PINs avialable
The PIN can be applied at the time of completing sale
Did you get the VIN for the one a Woltz and Wind?

Thanks for the info. Yes I do have the VIN. And I will try to get a PIN - I did not realize that they were that easy to get.
Should I make an issue out of it now and ask the sales manager if he will accept the x plan or just go ahead, get a PIN, and wait until time of payment and assume that he will accept it then? Does the dealer lose out with the xplan or not?

The dealer still makes some money with X-Plan but not as much as at MSRP.
You could always pick him for all warranty work etc, but some accessories from them.......
Might be best to discuss it with him now

I didn't get the VIN for the car but the phone number for Woltz & Wind Ford is 412-279-4551. I salesman I talked to was Eric Cathcart but I also talked to the sales manager. He would not budge from MSRP and took the position that they have a list of people who want the car and a guy coming in tonight will buy it at MSRP if I didn't buy it this morning. And if noone on their list buys it at MSRP, then they will sell it on EBay for MSRP. They did not want to hear that some dealers are now selling for less than MSRP and that they are not all selling for MSRP on EBay. And as far as warranty work, I will use the service department of Crivelli Ford where I am buying my Bullitt from - they are very service oriented. The people I talked to who had had service work done at Woltz & Wind were not that satisfied with them.

I could not agree more. Especially if you have a car that is more mechanically advanced like the Bullitt and you plan on holding onto the car for a while. It has been my experience that then service will most likely have their best mechanic assigned to work on your car each time you bring it in. Good luck with your purchase of a Bullitt! Are you from the Pittsburgh area?

"X is invoice minus 0.4% - on a Mustang that will be around $100 below invoice) and the documentation fee that the dealer charges which is not allowed on X plan.
In your case you'd need the cost of the car plus doc fee to be no more than $400 over invoice (give or take) BEFORE the college grad rebate to break even (that makes the final price $100 below invoice after the $500 college grad rebate). Anything more than that and you're better off with the X plan price.
Also remember that on A/Z/D/X plan sales the dealer gets a special commission check from Ford (around $400 - $500). One would have to ask why they'd forego that spiff check unless they were making it up elsewhere.
No, you don't need a PIN to order. The dealer only needs the PIN when you complete the purchase and take the vehicle, although it's a good idea to have it before you order just to make sure you can get one. You don't want to be caught with the vehicle waiting and then trying to get a PIN. The PIN is only tied to YOU - not the vehicle so the VIN isn't needed until the vehicle is actually purchased.

Thanks - that info was very helpful. I just talked to my salesman and he said as long as I got a PIN and my car came up on the computer as eligible for the xplan that he would honor it (hopefully the salesmanager will too). So the ETA for my car is March 9th. Is it possible to get a PIN by then?

Doesn't sound impossible to me at all. Get over to www.blueovalforums.com and make a request soon! Just think of all the gas and burgers you can buy with the money saved! Yeehaaaawwwwww!!
Already posted my PIN request yesterday. My request for a PIN was for an "08 Mustang GT" so I could get around any of the Bullitt "confusion" - although in my case there is no issue as it was factory ordered before 1/09/08. I guess I just wait for an employee to post a thread that he has one or some available - and jump on it - as I do not see anyone gettin replies to their PIN requests. Unless anyone knows a quicker way to get a PIN. In the meantime, I will just have to keep my fingers crossed and hold my breath!

I've had my Bullitt since the end of January. It was a long wait. It loks like Ford is finally processing Bullitt orders more quickly.
