This was posted elsewhere about the San antonio dealer with 11 Bullitts

hey have received and sold 7 already, another is there right now and I already said I'd buy it tonight but they said it's pre-sold and awaiting pick-up. They have another 10 coming that all are to be exported to Germany. Overall they will have just shy of 50 Bullitts over the next 5 months.
I did some research of dealers in the NW Region. I know this isn't completely accurate but at the current time I can find 11 . That's for the entire Region and includes two that I know of that aren't listed.

How is it right or fair to Ford dealers across the country that one dealer alone can get up to 50 or more of a 7,000 vehicle run? Let alone right in this case that dealers are getting stock before those who have placed retail orders early.

Given the number of total dealers Ford could have offered each dealer two, then re allocated those that some dealers maybe didn't want to bother with. I understand this is what Chrysler has done with the initial limited run of the '08 Challenger.

That was exactly how my local Ford dealer told me Ford was planning on allocating the '08 Bullitts.... Maybe there are vehicles other dealers in the country want that the Texas dealer traded for... like the new high(er) mileage SUV/crossover things? Maybe the Texas dealer is splitting any ADMs on the Bullitts with dealers in other areas that can't get an ADM. If that's truly the case the guy deserves his money... talk about knowing your local market!

Another, small, dealer local to me told me he can get a slight markup on the high mileage SUV he had in stock and would have to trade one of those in order to get a third Bullitt.

Just because Ford has fair intentions on allocations doesn't mean dealers can't make private deals amongst themselves....

No that dealer hasn't traded to get all those. Ford has just allocated tehm to him.
To his credit though he's not adding ADM. In fact I'm told he's selling under MSRP

I am doing some research on the odd chance that AFFES, military Exchange System has selected that dealer for all purchases of Ford Mustangs for Overseas military.

A salesperson at that dealership told me that they had to order 100 Mustangs to be able to get 30 Bullitts.

Galpin Ford in California has 12 Bullitts listed on DealerConnection but they also list 309 other 2008 Mustangs. The six dealers closest to my zip code have a total of 117 2008 Mustangs. I can understand why Galpin is getting more than 1 or 2 Bullitts.

I've mentioned b4, though, that I could swear I read on blueovalforums that too many mustangs can hurt car allocation, also. I'll have to find that read on the allocation system.

that's a possiblitiy and it might explain the 10 going to Germany, but it doesn't explain the rest (projected 50 )

Galpin Ford is also apprently the largest dealer in the US. Regardless, the Ford allocation and particularly distribution system of SE vehicles is broken. I don't car how big a dealer is.

To the credit of the San Antonio dealer you can buy one of their many at a decent price, you will not get any such deals at Galpin Ford.

As I've said before it's a wonder the smaller dealers even still exist. They certainly don't get much of a chance at growing in the Ford system when retail sales still come out of their measly Ford allocation instead of being treated as a real separate sale and filled by Ford.

Go check out www.imboc.com (the original and best Bullitt Mustang website) and if you go back to posts from 2000 and 2001 you'll find the same allocation model being criticized (too many going to southern states like TX, CA, and FL). Ford ships way more Mustangs to southern climates because more are historically sold there (fish where the fishin's good!).

Yes I understand that, especially for regular production, however a SE (serialsed especially) should be allocated with a different consideration. Especially when Ford had indicated this one would be prioritised for retail sales.
I applaud that particular dealership for selling at a good price, but there are still early retail orderers that don't even ahve VINs, and that dealership has so many Bullitts allocated tehy are selling 5, maybe 10 to a buyer in Germany (and not military sales)
when the buld run is finnihed those 10 to Germany may not matter, but at the moment, the low numbered cars should go to those early US retail orders.

Speaking of fish- this was already sold in less than one day of listing

I didn't even get a chance to look at it after work.

Just picked up my new 08 Alloy Metallic GT from McCombs Ford West in San Antonio last night and they had 2 Bullitts (1 green, 1 black) and a GT500 on the lot. I was scoping out the HG Bullitt. Very understated in person but very nice. I'm really digging the exhaust on the Bullitts and me thinks that my first mod on my new 08 will be that. Didn't ask price on the Bullitts but the inventory manager said they were asking $60k or th GT500. I asked him if he was serious and he said "Yep." He said he just sold one about 2 weeks ago for $59k to some old dude in Oklahoma who flew down and paid cash for it. Must be nice.

Oh and btw, Jordan Ford here in SA is a pretty big SVT dealership here in town and in the state so it doesn't surprise me that they're able to pull an extra allotment of Bullitts.

Could it be that Ford is changing the allocation model because 08 Mustang sales are down about 9% from the 07's and the want to sell all 7000 Bullits?

Just a thought.
