Think Will See a 2009 Mach 1 - 40th year edition

The Bullitt Mustang won out with 2008 up coming special edition - which I understand since the Bullitt movie came in 1968... So how about a new Mach 1 edition coming out in 2009 it's 40th birthday... Are you listening Ford Motor Company....

Check out Downs Ford in New Jersey phone#732-349-2240(www.Downsford.Com) click on (special Mustangs) - they have a outstanding white (replicar) new 2006/2007 Mach 1 with a shaker hood scoop and 1969 Mach 1 type side stripes, and black hood matting etc... This IS the type next Mach 1 - I personally would LOVE see be built it is OUTSTANDING... Please treat yourself and check it out - it's worth the look see... I hope your listen Ford motor Co built us a car like this....

Anyone else out their interested in seeing a new 2009 Mach 1??????

Well, 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the Boss Mustangs too. How many SEs do you think Ford can profitalby support?

One a year is not a huge strain on the inventory status. There will only be 5 models then if the continue to produce the GT500. IMO yes there can still support that many.

Well, let's see, an iconic special edition model that could readily be produced by any number of FoMoCo parts bin bits (Aussie DOHC 5.4 (call it the Cobra Jet, duh), GT500 drivetrain, suspension and brakes, doll it up with a GT/CS surface jewelery, add the requisite stickers, badges and shiny things...) that would have an immediate and huge fawning market...so obvious, such a clear obvious winner...

Naw, Ford suites will inevitably find some way to rationalize their way out of it, instead, foisting some insipid tapestripe and scoop hackjob from the marketing department, perhaps with the Mach I name, on us instead.

Hope they do something like the above, I think that would be an awesome setup for the drag/stoplight racers.

I'd be happy with a 3V, 5.4, but as I pointed out on another thread, the bean counters run the show at Ford and most of them think that stripes and body cladding sell vehicles.

Certainly, my personal preference is for Ford to produce a Boss 302 Mustang in 2009 that provides stellar handling and braking with at least 400 NA HP on tap from the upcoming Boss engine series (aka Hurricane). However, there are at least a few missing pieces to the Boss puzzle such as fully developed 5.0L (or 5.8L) 400 HP NA Boss engine and a IRS (although the Control Blade IRS would be the perfect solution, it has yet to appear in an S197 Mustang).

In contrast, as Rhumb stated, the pieces to produce a Mach I currently exist and could easily be compiled to produce a stunning straight line performer with instant appeal. Sadly, as others have stated, Ford will figure out a way to screw up one or both of the these fantasies.

I've seen a artist rendering some where of what the current Mustang would look like with a T - top as a Mach 1 with a shaker hood scoop looked really cool in red with the blacked out hood, even the wife liked it... Randy

Disagree!

T-tops are cool. Just because the F-Bodies had them, doesnt mean they are completely F-Body themes.

Besides, I think the 70's/80's mustangs with T-Tops were the creme de la creme. In fact, if I could change one more thing about my car, it would be to have factory T-Tops. I've seen chops of em on 05+s and I rather like them.

But hey, if its not for you, just dont order it. It's all good. You can't please everyone with one option

An 09 Mach featuring a 3v 5.4 with a shaker and all of the Shelby suspension goodies would be cool, Then again Ford has this nice 6.8 liter 3v V10 (dunno about VVT but I guess it may be equipped with it) in a "GT" state of tune, your looking at 443 horsepower. Work a little magic on it for an even 450 hp, call it a 6.8 Super Cobrajet and put it in a car called Mach One and I bet they would sell the bejezzus out of it.

My opinion... T-Tops are like the 80s

Certain things should be LEFT in that era

OK - I'm the one who started this threat and I'm also the one that brought up the T-top topic so lets just drop the T-top issue and get back to the main issue behind this thread the idea of bringing back the Mach 1 in 2009... And any comments members may have on this subject... The Mach 1 like the Bullitt needs to be brought back every few years or on a yearly bases... The shaker hood scoop on this car makes this car - makes it a MACH 1 a car worth reviving....

Their is nothing in this world like the feeling of driving around with that shaker hood scoop as part of your view, knowing that no one else HAS that view makes it very special to be driving a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang - very proud to own one is other sensation that comes to mind ... I'm a hero, a cool Dad in my 8 year old son's eyes and that matters more than anything... I've been a Ford Mustang guy since 1964 I want Jr. to continue this father / son hobby and I hope pass the interest on to his off-spring.... Randy Anderson

No more Machs! I have a black '03, and I don't care if they ever make another one. If they do, it'll just ruin the value of mine in my opinion.
