Shelby GT for list, no dealer markup added
I had quite a car shopping day today. I started out looking for a Mustang. One of the local Ford dealers said I could have his Shelby GT for list, when it came in. It's not here yet. Of course, its $still $38500 and too pricey for me. And he DID have a Grabber Orange GT/CS on his order form, with parchment. I guess that would be my first choice, but it's still probably too expensive.
Also, I test drove a used '05 Mustang GT at a different dealer. It was Windvail Blue and had NO options, a stripper. (Well, the dealer claimed it had optional wheels. I'm not sure.) But it was otherwise un-optioned up. Standard. He had gotten it at the auction with 2,500 miles on it after it was repossessed. He put another 2,500 on it, so it's around 5,000. The door didn't seem to slam shut evenly. The steering wheel had a shimmy to it. (Do these muscle cars hold up?) Otherwise, it looked OK, I guess. But it was very plain. Yet, somehow, I liked its stark simplicity. I can put in my own HD Radio sound system in it without having to chuck a Shaker. But the nut dealer wanted / offered it to me at $24,000! Now, new, in 2005, MSRP on the stripper was $24,999, as I recall. Anyhow, I was thinking it might be about $17,000. I was offended and I passed.
But I also tested a new Mazda Speed6 (elsewhere). WOW! What a car. I think it was the nicest car I ever drove. I know the dealer. It'd be about $28,000. He has a Mazda Speed3, too.
And I also tested a 2005 Accord V6 EX coupe w/six speed and 28,000 mi. Red & Tan leather. Another WOW! $20,000.
I don't know what to do, and still remain solvent. There's also a one owner '97 Cobra Convert Black Black Black w/23,000 mi for $13,000 not too far away.

I'd say go with what ever car puts the biggest smile on your face. Don't dismiss the Shelby GT at list till you drive it.
Ugh! Stay away from the Accord. You get way more car for the buck if you get an AWD Fusion! I used to love Honda sedans till I drove the Fusion here at work. If you want to say "wow" try out a Fusion.

I disagree. You may get more car for the buck with the fusion, but the Fusion will depreciate a heck of a lot faster than the Accord. So, you spend more for an accord, but it's always worth a lot more too, because its a honda and not a ford.

I didn't get his price, though I may later today, but it would be close to $22,000. THat is a TON of car for that price.
Accords don't really have to be explained. Like Harleys used to be. Believe me, it was a hot car, a top of the line six speed EX, red/tan leather coupe w/everything, for $20,000.
I just talked to the FOrd dealer. He's good to order the 2007 GO GT/CS w/iu and 3.55 and sell it for invoice. $30,025 MSRP, $28,082 invoice. There is a $1,000 rebate. A new one for $27,000. So, why the **** would anyone buy a drab, two year old 2005 stripper with two owners (including the dealer) and two things wrong with it - even if they could be easily fixed - for $24,000 when it MSRPed new for $24,995???
I can't believe that some nice, used examples aren't coming around the corner at the auction for $18,000, or less.

if the fusion awd comes in a six speed i would give it a test drive.
the honda is a NICE car. i am a huge fan
other than that, out of your list. its hard to give up the deal on that gt/cs

While in the past that statement would have been 110% accurate, I think it will be interesting to see how fomoco's new autos hold up (value wise) to the Hondas and Toyotas of the same market segment.
