Well said Jeff. Im with you and thats why I bought one. I dont have the itme or patience to convert my own. Id end up getting p*ssed and my SGT would have fist marks all through it and those dont buff out to easy. So for the extra $$ it is worth it TO ME. I have always wanted a Shelby and now I am happy as a clam.

Yes, that does seem odd, considering the Shelby GT500 brake set-up from FRPP is about 1500.00 (IIRC - although I wish there was something a bit more "mass-neutral" for about the same price), its probably gonna be one of my next mods, along with some 255/45R18 rubber (very seriously considering Michelin PS2s) and somebody's suspension kit to round it out.

<---edit--->
Perhaps the process of changing ut the calipers and then having to bleed the brakes is a bit more invovled tham what they want to do with the Shelby???????

Personally I don't think your SGT's will be worth bupkiss to anyone other than a Shelby loyalist.
If you guys think for one second that you can turn around and sell them at Barrett jackson for a million space bucks then you are dilluded. But that is of course my opinion.
You guys have cars you are happy with and that's cool with me. Enjoy them and don't let enyone else tell you otherwise.
Personally as I've said before there is only one modern mustang with shelbys name on it I'd own and that would be the GT500....but I of course would strip off his name and his badges and sell them on ebay to you shelby loyalists for a heavy premium

I don't need shelby on my car when SVT are the real stars of that show.

Well how many "used" cars actually INCREASE in price?
If you owned a '68 GT500KR and tried to re-sell it in 1970, do you think you would've gotten more than you paid for it?
I doubt it.
It takes years for cars to become collectors items.
Try selling a used '07 GT500 right now and see if you can get what you paid for it? Again I doubt you will. If you check the web for videos you might come across an interview with Carroll and Amy. They say that this is just the start. Shelby is just getting started with cranking out new models, etc.
If this is the case, then every new car they build de-values the previous cars they have been producing. Their new KR is going to de-value the GT500. Then there is the Super Snake, and who knows what else.

Will the Shelby GT become a collectible? Who knows? But it's going to take 20 years to truly find out.
Personally I would never buy a car because I think it might be worth more money someday. I buy it because I like it and want it.
Investing money by buying a car you think might INCREASE in value is not really a sound investment strategy.
Buy it because you like it and then go drive it and get your enjoyment from it.

Didn't you once tell us a real funny story about a Chevy guy with crutches you tripped going down some stairs?

Maybe it was Boomer.

How did we get from $2800 will give you the same thing you get if you buy a SGT, to millions of dollars and collector's item? No one is saying these cars are going to 'appreciate" in value! Where did you get that from? All that has been said is that if you bought all the parts and had them installed the difference is actually closer to $3K. Given that, it could be said that since the SGT will be worth more than a stock GT with the mods installed stand-alone, the SGT is a better option. That's all! Anyone that wants to place a bet on that and has an 07 GT that they intend to make into an SGT clone, I'll take that bet and revisit this issue in 5 years...let's check in again in 15 years....that's if your GT is still on the road which I doubt.

I think it was yesterday from some guy named,
GTH395?

"... A GT with all these mods is STILL just a GT and your investment will be worth pennies on the dollar while the SGT will be a collector's item..."

Sorry, still looking for the word "appreciate" in value, which means to go up in value.

My statement of a relationship between two like cars one a modified GT and the other a Shelby GT. I've own enough of these cars for enough years to know how the value goes and doesn't.

I really don't think throwing some FRP packages into my GT and some tape stripes is going to make sense. Or are you saying that's not the case?

Your efforts should be steered towards comprehending instead of wasting energy on looking.

You would not have posted the "collector's items" term (which means it is not cheap) unless it is synonymous with the "appreciate in value" term. Otherwise what's the point in relating the two. Other than that, I agree with you 100%.

Right on Tispco! The other cars have no "soul." What is the history on the others? Not much. I agree, they could have been comparing to anything -- wouldn't have mattered. They all...just don't compare to the Mustang.

BTW, hows that back seat in the 350Z as far as practicality--probably gave it a higher score than the mustang - even though it doesn't have one LOL

Unfortunately, the rerality is that the delta between an SGT and a GT is more than the advertised $9k. I know, because I wanted and pursued one, and I got he build sheet to see what all they charged for the upgrade...the car gets ordered with a $2100 "Upfitters Package" (essentially the Cali Special body trim + 3.55s) and then gets sent to Shelby for the Hurst shifter ($300 w/install), FRPP performance pack ($1200 w/install), FRPP handling pack ($1500 w/install), hood scoop (shall we be generous and say $300 w/install), grill ($500 w/install), and stripes ($500 w/install). Tha generous allowance adds up to $6400, but he's not in business for fun, so the profit margin brings the premium for the SGT to $9k over the price of the GT with comparable options. Not a bad deal, I agree, and I would have gone for it, but y9ou can't buy one for that.....you have to pay up....most cases I was quoted $45k, and even got as high as $55 (see the Autoweek classifieds). That is what I find unnacceptable. At $45k, I'd have paid $17 over what I paid for my Cali Special....and after the FRPP Stingers ($450), and C&L+Bamachips tune ($625), I have a car that is a better DD (rides better, with better clearance for the real world of Houston streets), shifter that doesn't rattle, a better looking rear valance, and I got better night-time vision due to the extra lights! So I'm still ahead $16k. At a prod run of 10,000 units, and more models to come, collector value is dubious; y'all can keep the SGT.

You're not looking hard enough! There are plenty of cars on ebay at or below MSRP. There are dealers selling at $500 over invoice on the SAI web site. While there are some crazy dealers like Bredemann Ford in Glenview IL, trying to sell at $10K over MSRP, there are plenty to be had without any such games.

Here are just a few:
