Based on the mods request that short and "negative" posts be taken out I am modifying my original post.
The reason I said the hood scoop looks craptastic is the fact that it looks like it is just tacked on the top. The lip is rolled to the outside, it gives the hood scoop a very cheap and "universal fit" look to it. If you wanted to impress us then please use a hood scoop that looks molded in to the hood or somehow a look that doesn't make me want to look for the pop rivets holding it on.
I'd also say it looks a little too wide and low for a traditional classic mustang hood scoop, usually they were proportioned differently than that. I know that you're probably thinking I should get off the retro theme but I can't help it since I have only owned a 60's mustangs and the current body style is supposed to be retro.
Thanks

You know if anyone else put that scoop on a car they'd be called out as ricer or a JC Whitney lover or both....how come shelby can get away with it? And don't even pull the Cobra heritage card..it wont fly!
<SARCASM>Glad to see the Shelby design team went above and beyond the call on this one..</SARCASM>
Holy lazyness
I can just imagine the conversations in the shelby design room. Ok guys..we got tons of those rear bumper from the gt's laying around...Oh hell unique performance has those cobra scoops....ok hmmm what can we make with these?
It's like hiring an interior designer that costs $32K and her looking at your white walls and saying "You know what? I think I'll paint that.........white."
now of course I'm gonna get crucified by the Shelbyites for saying that. So let me put this qualifier on this. These are just my opinions!
But...if you like it buy it...for those of us with a bit more imagination....we'll hold out for something more.

My take is why didn't they just leave the Shelby GT-H hood on it and bump up the hp to 350ish. I think that would have been a good upgrade to the GT. I guess using Shelby's name as a selling pitch for this model is enough for Ford.

The GT-H hood IS available as an option.
I have been very excited anticipating the release of this "affordable" Shelby
but like many here I feel deflated when I look at what they are offering.
Like Burningman said earlier, if ANYone else had put a Cobra hood scoop
on a current Mustang they would be trounced upon.
I didnt want a GT/CS that was "upgraded".
I want a Shelby... but not this one.

The 4.6-liter, 325-horsepower Ford Shelby GT will occupy a niche between the Mustang GT and the Ford Shelby GT500 both in terms of performance and appearance. It is a retail version of the Ford GT-H – the Shelby and Ford Racing-prepared Mustang developed for Hertz that was the surprise hit of the 2006 New York International Auto Show.
“We know the combination of Mustang and Shelby is magic, and we proved it again when we revealed the Ford Shelby GT-H for Hertz. The car received such rave reviews that our dealers and customers asked for a version of their own,” Fields explained. “We listened, and we’re delivering.”
The Ford Shelby GT will be on sale in January. Ford will reveal full product details this Sunday on its “Bold Moves: The Future of Ford” web-based documentary (www.fordboldmoves.com).

I'm not crazy about the color combo, but I like the car. The grille, hood scoop, side scoops, and quarter windows scream '66 G.T. 350. I would've liked to have seen the anthracite Carroll Shelby CS66 wheels used, the stripes should definitely be Vista Blue, and the hood scoop either needs to be functional or optional.
I'll be interested to see some magazine compare the Mustang GT and Shelby GT side-by-side to see how these Ford Racing packs improve the car.
These should be the color options:

AmyB from ShelbyAutos in Vegas ( who has been gracious enough to post here on our website ) just responded to the recent image that has been posted of the new Shelby-GT.
Here is what she said:
"Well, not exactly correct, but press release goes out Friday...
And that is a photo of taken last Friday in Vegas of the concept car.
Amy"
We have to wait till Friday BUT I fear we will still not be impressesd. I cant see them unveiling this car and then offering a better car.
I wish Shelby would let us know when they are planning to release the REAL GT 350.

A co-worker who has an interest in this asked a good question...
If this Shelby GT is the own/lease version of the GT-H, will it have manual trans or only automatic like the GT-H? I would guess it would have both.
