Introducing 08SGT0406
Introducing 08SGT0406
I just picked it up this evening, and all I've done is drive home in heavy traffic on surface streets. Haven't even had it on the highway yet, and only made it into 5th gear once, but boy does it sound great!
I can't believe I own a genuine Shelby Mustang!
I know many here don't see the point. You can definitely build a better, faster car yourself, and do it cheaper, too, but for me it's always been the "Shelby thing". Shelby doesn't inspire everyone, but for me, this is a dream come true. My neighbor across the street with the supercharged 06 GT can still beat me, but I don't even care. I haven't been able to sleep the past couple of nights for just being too excited, and I'm not expecting tonight to be any easier. I have to go outside to look at it some more....

although im not a "shelby" fan, i understand the point. just having the opportunity to own one is exciting enough. i probably WILL be the same way when i look forward to owning a certified STEEDA when the new styling comes out (2010-2011). starting to save the money now. nice looking ride!

Congratulations! I know exactly where you are coming from because my story is almost identical to yours. I got rid of my '08 GT/CS about a month ago and picked up 08SGT1243.

I still haven't made a thread about in here, but I love it. I have a ton of pics starting at the dealer through now.
I'll make a thread soon, just been busy lately.

Hey Jim, you have the most beautiful looking mustang ever! If I got one, it would be just like yours
I know I advised you to wait until the Spring or Summer to get a good deal. Hopefully, that was the case.
Congrats and welcome to the club.

You were right AFBLUE. I got the SGT for $6300 under sticker, and only got $5k less for my GT than I paid for it new! I still can't sleep!
Thanks for the "other forum" tip as well!

Wow. Just not much Shelby activity over here. Thought I'd post a couple more pics showing off my first mod. (fender stripes) Pics taken at Loveland Pass, and near Breckenridge on Father's day. Had a great drive, and the SGT message center showed 22.6 mpg overall after climbing mountains!
Congrats! Personally, I think it's arguable that the Shelby GT is the better looking of the Shelby's available. And it's a bargain too! If you aren't totally driven by horsepower, this car's a great alternative to the GT 500 since most people aren't Mustang savvy enough to know that the Shelby GT is more show than go. Plus, you can always mod the car to make it faster. Not like modding Mustang's is uncommon.
No, the stripes are vinyl graphic material from a Fast Sign shop. $5 for six stripes and I did them myself! (one got messed up, I still have one extra). I actually wanted to do this to my 05 GT, but thought it might be a bit much. Then I saw others doing it to their SGTs and thought what the heck! Check out the thread "Roger I love your fender stripes" in the SGT mods section of Team Shelby for other color combos. Yellow looks killer on a black SGT with Terlingua badges!
Someone on Team Shelby did the silver on blue. Looks nice, but I like the red better for more contrast. Yellow would be great, maybe with matching Terlingua decals? Just know that yellow traditionally means "rookie driver". Not that most people would know that, and I wouldn't let it stop me. I just went with red because I've seen so many 427 and 289 Cobras in blue with the red fender stripes. At least they aren't permanent. Wife says they look stupid.
Incredible car, Jim! Is this a daily driver, your fun car, or something you picked up for investment purposes?
I just ask because I've been watching the Mecum Auto Auctions on tv lately, and the original, rare cars of 30-40 years ago are now going for HUGE dollars - like over $1 million for certain cars, and in the 6-figure range for other cars. (for one example, a 1970 GTO Judge convertible that was some special edition like 1 of 11 made, recently went for $350,000!) But the key is keeping the cars original - any modifications at all really reduce the collector's value. I'm just saying...
Whatever your reasons, enjoy the car. That's a beauty!
