Guys, what i should have said was "under 35k" because I dont know the base car yet, or if convert are included, so let's wait to see what it is, when I am sure, sorry for jumping the gun.

How is that steep??? A 07 Stang with premium equipment, the California Special package, plus the FRPP Handling and Drag pack will run about 33k and change. That's with out the cost of labor or the other parts on the car. Sure you can almost duplicate the car by just adding the packs to a regular GT but you can bet your @#$@ it won't be covered under Ford's warranty.

35K is reasonable in my book, now if we can just keep the dealers from adding on insane mark ups.

I know my place of business won't be marking these up. Heck we didn't mark up ANY regular GT Mustangs when they came out. We were at MSRP, when everyone else around us was anywhere from $2K to $10K over list. AMD's give me a bad vibe.

StangFreak, if your looking into one of these, send me a PM. I'll be happy to keep you in the loop. I'm a car nut, and am on this site while on vacation.

I'm going to have to agree here.

Too bad two years ago $35k could get you an aluminum block, forged internals, four valve per cylinder/DOHC, supercharger, and an independently suspended rear...

Yes $35K got you all that, but on a severly outdated chassis, that dated back to the late 70's.

Yep, and gas was $1.75 per gallon, metals were half the price they are now, and people could ALMOST afford to pay their rent every month

The Terminator didn't have an aluminum block. That was then, this is now.

If this rumor is true (big IF), a $30K Challenger R/T (6.1 Hemi, IRS, etc), then yeah, $35K will be way too steep. Ford really needs to get aggessive with their pricing in anticipation of the upcoming challengers from GM and DC.

I think it really is worth about $30K, i.e., $5K more than a standard GT, given that there's not that much extra on it, rather, just different parts for the most part.

You know, I just cant see a "Smith Mustang" or "Perez Mustang" being a very popular car.

If anyone really thinks that the new Challenger will only cost $30K, and use the same engine that is in the $40K and $43K SRT-8 Cnarger, and 300, AND have all the amenities that we're all acustom to having in our cars, then your crazy, no matter what is on the net. Do I believe that they will have the smaller Hemi (can't believe I'm calling this motor that, is NOT the real one from the 70's!). for a price in the $30K range, yes, but not the big 6.1.

Yeah, $30K for the full SRT8 version would seem a bit skinny, but I could readily see a 5.7 Hemi R/T version going for that, given that the R/T Magnum starts around there and has two (three) extra doors and more content. $35K for an full boat 6.1 SRT8 would sound more reasonable.

But who knows, one way or the other, maybe Dodge is really gunning to match or undercut (in terms of content offered per buck) the Stang GT (and upcoming Camaro -- the ponycar competitive landscape will be changing dramatically quite soon) and is willing to go skinny on the profit margins for a mass market halo car (distinguished from the specialty Viper).

Ford has had some rather plush salad-days in terms of the Stang being in essentially a one-car market niche and being able to price accordingly. But that niche is going to become a cut-throat battlefield to the benefit of all us enthusiast buyers and maybe that $30K figure is a first distant shot across the Stang's bow.

That it was a Dodge site gives that $30K number a tiny touch more credibility, but I ain't betting my pay check on that number to be sure.

Plus, I am not too scared of the Camaro. The design is too futuristic for this time. I have spoken at great lengths with hard-core Chevy Camaro peole at every car show and cruise night I take my Mustang to, and they all are saying pretty much the same thing, THEY AREN"T HAPPY WITH IT!!! (caps for how they stated their displeasure of the car to me). They wanted a car that was a direct retro to the 68-69 model, not the car we see. They think its too soon for a car this different. Most bowtie people have said they DO NOT like it at all. Then they go on to say that Ford got the Mustang just right (and they point to my car, and other S-197s in the lot). Chevy needs to tone down the look if they want to sell as many as they are hoping for. Again this is what people have told me.
