I'd like to see him actually get it but I have my doubts.

here is what the winner, Matt, said on the other forum.....

"I'll keep you guys posted. Talked to the dealer...they were shall we say "surprised" there was no reserve.

"You won it for what?!?!"

Is a "no reserve" ad on eBay binding? Does the dealer have an option to back out of the deal?

It's a legit, binding auction according to ebay terms. If they screwed up that's their issue. But it's only ebay. Ebay does little more than send an email saying your contract is binding and to sell the item to the high bidder. Even at that it's nearly impossible to even start a dialog about it with ebay. These guys have a whopping 2 feedback. They can just abandon that account and start over. If they had huge feedback that they wanted to protect you'd have a much better chance. There's no way he's getting the car.

Sounds like the dealer sent him some free stuff and Matt let them off the hook. The world needs more Matts and less ADM Shelbys. See below.

...Ok, update!

Yes, they didn't mean not to have a reserve. Only their third ebay listing. Seemed like a nice enough guy and as they say, what goes around comes around, so I have agreed to mutually cancel the deal. No reason to get any bad Karma!

He's sending me some stuff we talked about as thanks and all ends well.

It was worth it just to see me win it for 30K!

I wonder what would have happened if the winning bid was something more realistic like $34500.

And not a hint of arrogance? I wonder why?

I can just picture it... you have a loaded 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world. The guy has a rubber band, and he is going to spit on your face and whip your butt. He has to ask himeself a question, do he feels lucky?
