I'm just curious...
Has anyone heard how fast the Shelby GT will go 0-60 or do the quarter mile? When I searched the web I found that edmonds had the Shelby GT 0-60 time at 5.0 seconds: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=116496

That doesn't seem correct considering Road and Track has a stock Mustang GT 0-60 at 4.9 seconds and the quarter mile time of 13.5 seconds: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=3

The Shelby GT has the FR power upgrade package installed (cool air intake, racing oil filter, premium gas calibration) which raises it's HP from 300 to 319. Shouldn't that mean the Shelby GT will go 0-60 faster and have a quicker quarter mile time than a stock Mustang GT?

If it's not faster than a stock Mustang GT, then I'd prefer to keep the car stock at 87 octane and save money on gas and maintenance/replacement of the racing oil filter.

Does anyone know 0-60 or quarter mile time for the Shelby GT?

The 0-60 is not much different. It depends on the launch.
The difference is the handling pkg., which of course you can put on a stock Mustang for a little over $1000 and a Saturday day's work.

It's hard to believe that the Shelby wouldn't produce faster times than a stock Mustang without a cold air intake and a a lower horsepower rating. Shouldn't it at least be two or three tenths quicker?

It also depends on the individual car.
We are only talking less than 10% more HP.
Some stock GTs had little more power from the factory.
They have already downgraded the official Shelby GT HP to 319.

 

What I would like to see is the trap times for the blown version of this. Should be a solid 12 sec, 4.x sec car, and considering it's weight advantage over the '500, a better corner carver to boot...

 

What you SHOULD notice is crisper throttle response and smoother power delivery. That, plus the FRPP handling pack, means that you can put the power you DO have to the ground more effectively.

And that's nothing to sneeze at.

 

C'mon you don't need to see trap times.
You of all people know that a stock GT with a blower can do that.
Put in the handling pack and your still talking cheaper than a Shelby GT.
Heck, Dustin is in the high 12s with no blower.

By the way...do you live in Nashua/work at Nashua Ford? I live in Windham!

 

Nashua Ford died in 1999. I was one of the last salespeople there.
I've always lived here. I don't sell cars right now though.
A lot of the service dept. went to Gladstone Ford (It doesn't hurt to have a service writer that you worked with on your side).

 

Cool, My wife & I know a few folks @ Gladstone, had alot of service done there. Plus, my wife used to sell cars up in Nashua (Fiermonte Cadillac, now gone).
