Only one GT-H was sold to the public via a charity auction. I can't remember the price it went for, but it was something like 150k!! Ouch! After Hertz is done with them, the GT-H's will all be sold to the public. Expect a feeding frenzy! But if you like the GT-H, Shelby has just the car for you. The Shelby GT is on the way, and will be set up much like the GT-H. It will be available in at least two color combos and unlike the H, you can get the S-GT with a manual tranny! There's a different forum for the S-GT if you'd like to check it out, plenty of pics and info.

I believe it sold for 250k, and the proceeds went to the EAA.

I believe there are only 498 GT-H's for rent now. I was at a MS Charity bike ride this past weekend and a GT-H was there. Hertz was a major sponsor for the event and since Hertz HQ is in NJ, they were there with this car. I asked the gentleman attending the car if it was for rent and he said no it was his. I asked politely if he was the one who paid 250K and laughed and said NO!. I asked someone at the event who he was and someone said he was the big wig at Hertz. So I tend to believe this was true. The man did fill me on info about the remaining GT-H's thou. He said that Hertz and Ford are planning to put up all the cars for auction with a majority of the money going to charities. We shall see.

I heard somewhere (on here I believe) that some Hertz execs already bought some of the cars and Carroll Shelby has one (5 spd too!!) so there will be less than 500 hitting the auctions next year.
