Well my dad rented one

in pheonix, he was out there with navy reserves business. He had a rental that was expensed. (The navy only pays up to a certain amount, so the difference was covered by my dad... dont worry he isnt indulging in the tax payers money.) it was $100 a day. he said the 50 or so he chipped in was well worth it for the nice ride. here are some pics.

Here is dad posing with the car

I'll bet GT-H vs (LS1) GTO would be a good race.

yes, my dad was hoping to geo out and give a quick stop light pull with the gto. Thats an 04 so its only the 350 horse engine, should be a good one. He said the trans on the gt-h was just to slushy to really get on it. actually said he had a hard time passing people on the highway

Good thing that curb wasn't any higher or the front spoiler would have needed some repair work.

was about to write the same thing...bet the underside got scuffed up. That tower brace looks pretty stout. Wonder what these are gonna sell for when Hertz' lease ends? Also wonder what kinda shape they'll be in.

Hertz might be ahead to plop a new motor/tranny in each one before selling- not that theyve been 'hurt', but just to eliminate the rental car stigma of 'had the crap ran out of it by hundreds of different people'.

i actually have a similar issue with my 07, its jsut the throtle response with the electronic throttle. i just dont like it. and my dad is also thinking in terms of the junk shifting in the trans. the two of us just dont like driving automatic.

anyway, mine is getting chipped if for nothing else, so my foot feels connected to the throttle.

Hertz has a check list for all of the special parts and badging on the GT-H that the on-duty Manager goes through when you pick-up and drop-off the car. It even includes confirming that the TCS switch is inoperable and that a special engine security seal is intact.
