Question "What The Hay"

Went in to town to restock our Ford oil filter supplies in the shop and found this new little surprize. We always purchase Motorcraft FL-820S's or Purolator PL24652's by the case for the CalStang and for the Ford trucks, as they are pretty much the very same filter. But finding that both brands now have been down sized? Same-same on oil filters on a friends Tahoe we service also? But noted that the Wix Brand is still the same old size?

What the Hay? A smaller oil filter for the working trucks can not be a very good thing! Which one of you very smart folks out there has the answer on what is going on here in the oil filter world. And what longer HD filters will fit on these FL-820S Ford applications? "RC"

While I don't purchase filters by the case I do purchase several at a time and I did notice the smaller size. I figure I'm still OK with 5k intervals and full synthetic. Does make you wonder though. Maybe it's the economy, lol.
