I found that hard launches at the track were causing oil to come out of the rear axle vent. It was covered back there. That is a better looking solution than mine - I simply took the vent cap apart and used a hose to extend the length of the vent up and zip tied it to a frame rail. No more oil spray now.

In looking at the directions, it calls for the removal of the mufflers and over the axle exhaust tubes. Is that really necessary?

No need to mess with the exhaust it installs nicely just takes a few creative angles, then bolt it in.

FYI, for those who want to fix this without going the Shelby Kit way, TSB 10-3-7 has a solution:
http://kerrymitchell.net/mustang/doc...sb10-03-07.pdf

Ford Part # AR3Z4A058B, here's a pic:

I got one from Bowen-Scarff Ford for $37 shipped.

Thats does seem like a much more cost effective solution, especially since this part will never be seen once installed. But since I found my Shelby kit NIB for $75 shipped, it was much easier on the wallet

Got the Shelby tank on my GT, works great. Just wish it didn't cost so much. Better than puking diff fluid onto my race tires, though.

Quick question... Does the one tank fitting that came without a hose have anything connected to it??

Yes.

One side came with a hose attached and the other side has nothing on it (the fitting in the right of your picture). And in looking at the instructions they never mention doing anything to other fitting.
