New...not yet a GT/CS owner

I am looking to purchase a GT/CS within the next month or so. Being from NJ, my area is saturated with Ford dealerships with a couple CS models in stock. My question is, did most of you here order this car to your specs or take delivery from your dealer's lot? Do you pay more if you order one?

I told the dealer what I wanted and they found it within the State. The only option they couldn't find was the Shaker 1000. I figure I would upgrade to one of those bada$$ systems with Nav after I got sick of the Shaker 500...which, BTW, sounds pretty good for stock.

I looked at dealer inventory within the state using the FordDirect website and found what I wanted and then I had my local dealer get the car I wanted. They made some kind of arrangement, but it did not cost me nothing extra and had the car within a few days. But if you can't find a car you want with all the options then you may need to order one.

I'm not paying anything more for a factory order, most likey due to the timimng I'm hoping for some of thoses insentives to still be in place, so it's nothing like trying to get a Shelby GT 500. except the wait then could take at least 4 months.

Dan, Did a quick search and found two in your area. Both are Manuals, with pretty much the same options (IUP, Shaker 1000) one was Vista Blue (Best color IMO) and Black (Second best) I can tell you which dealers if you want to take a look. Send me a PM and I can get you the information.

I ordered mine and it didn't cost me a penny more than one straight off the dealer's lot. I've sold my home and I'm currently on the hunt for a home with a garage. So, ordering was the best way for me to go since I've got no place to store the car for now. Besides, I got the car just the way I want it and I plan on keeping it until I can't drive anymore....might as well get it the way I want it.

Also from NJ. Southern NJ here. We ordered our car from Ace Motors in Woodbury. Got it in four weeks. Checked out three other dealers, and got best deal at Ace. What area are you in?? We found several coupes on lots, but not many convertibles. Check the internet for dealers with CS's in your area.

He is from Northern NJ and I did some searches for him, there are a few coupes on the lots but I have yet to see a convertible. I got mine at Holman Ford, I found one at another dealer and they were able to get it for me. Did not cost anything extra and I use the X-Plan so it was a good deal. I sent him a PM with the search results, I hope he finds what he wants!

Hey guys...thanks for all the help!

I am still undecided on the color...in and out. I have a 2003 Explorer that is coming off lease on July 2nd. Do you guys think it will be harder to find what I want that late in the year? Is there still a posibility to order one from the factory so late?

Hard to tell, they will probably start taking 2008 model orders around that time. But, I am willing to bet that there will be some on the lots to buy. Just depends on whether or not you can find the one with all the options you want.

There will be a 2008 GT/CS. The 2008 order bank opens on 16 Apr 07. Order bank for the 2007s closes in early May.

It is entirely up to the dealer. I did not believe this after my first denial, so I called Ford. The dealer has the right to refuse to sell at A/Z/X plan on any vehicle. If you check around, you will find a dealer that will give plan pricing on the GT/CS.

I heard (rumor mill) that the GT/CS will be available in 2007 and 2008 but, would be a 2007 model year. Where did you get your information?

I think you mean the 2007 GT/CS is available in 2006 and 2007. A 2008 would be available in 2007 and 2008.
I've seen it in a few places but this is the only one I could find.

Almost all the dealers that I spoke with in this area will offer the X-plan for the GT\CS. But you are right the dealer has the right to refuse the plans. There are so many dealers around the area that I am sure that one can be found. Should not be a problem.
