Thumbs up Mustang factory GPS

I notice that there is a Shelby 07 for sale on eBay with FACTORY GPS! Is this an option that is finally available? (Although I LOVE my Pioneer unit, and it sure can pass for factory!!)

Asked my dealer about the factory one, said to get an aftermarket they are better. With aftermarket, where does the Shaker go?

what do you mean, where does it go? The shaker system still works with an aftermarket head unit, they're just speakers and amps after all.

OK, the pic's of the factory one I saw go where the Shaker is, so then how do you work the radio, CD etc. or if everything stays the same then where does the screen for the GPS go? Does it mount on the dash? If someone has some pic's please post.

The NAV/DVD system functions as the navigation, CD, DVD, satellite radio, and AM/FM radio and has a touchscreen operation

I got the Pioneer D2 unit with XM radio and back up camera installed for $1500, and I LOVE it!! Works better than factory units I've had in the past!

I just ordered a GT/CS and was considering adding the GPS. Any reason why the dealer said aftermarket are better? What happens to the Shaker if you get a factory GPS system?

Go to http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...069575,00.html
and look up car gps. They'll also show you list of dealers that install them. Also, Crutchfield will sell you unit and give you places that will install for $100. Probabily cheapest way. Mine was installed by Car Tunes in Largo, FL, and I couldn't be happier. (also installed K-40 radar detector-a real performance enhancer!)

The new gen of factory nav is fantastic. Easy to navigate and very intuitive, holds 6 cds in the same manner as a standard shaker, one disc DVD database. I used to sell Acuras with the super-highly rated nav systems they use and this is easier. And I hate nav....

So, then this replaces the Shaker audio system? Is it still MP3 compatible?

It enhances the factory Shaker system.
The sound specifications are all the same, so it is mp3 compatible, but it also displays the song title and artist on the screen and all audio adjustments are also displayed together on the screen.

It is super easy to use. You really don't even need any instructions. Just follow the prompts on the screen, that is after you agree on the first screen that you will not run into anyone because you were looking at the screen and not the road! (to keep the lawyers happy)

It does run off a single DVD, so you would have to buy a new disc from NavTech every year if you wanted to stay completely up to date.

If you want Navigation, in my opinion the factory system is the best choice overall.

Question

I know an aftermarket NAv should work, but I have a Convertable, and when you click on the selection button on the factory radio you can switch between "All-seats, Driver-seat, & Convertable" The Vert mode ups the shakers so you can feel them more. With an aftermarket Nav how would you choose these options?
