GT/CS retro build sheets

As everyone knows the newer Mustangs don't have the build sheets like the older cars do, so I thought what would our cars would like in the old build sheets. So I found a company that sold blank build sheets, in this case it was from 1984. So I purchased one just to play around with. I scanned it in and used a little computer magic to create a retro build sheet for my 2007 GT/CS. Let know what you think of it and let me know if there is anything else I can add to make it more realistic. I also was thinking selling these to anyone one who would be interested in this retro style build sheet.

Looks Good.

In earlier Mustang assembly it was not uncommon to find one of those somewhere on or in the vehicle. In later years it was retained by the Manufacturer.

In 2003 and 2004 that sheet was known as the Mandatory Compliance Inspection Report or sometimes referred to as the "Master Build Sheet". It was kept on file at The Dearborn Assembly Plant and never released to the public after the vehicle was completed. What was normally found under seats, under bumper covers, or in the spare tire wheel well is one of the Assembly Line Build Sheets. There were seven of these used on each vehicle.

It is interesting how little the "Master Build Sheet" has changed through the years. Other than it being larger in 2003 & 2004 (17 x 11) the original is almost identical to yours.

Build Sheets are still used on the new Mustangs at the Auto Alliance Assembly Plant in Flat Rock. I don’t know much about the newer ones except they are printed in landscape format and not in portrait format such as the ones used at DAP before it closed in 2004 when the 2005 Mustang production was moved to FLR.

2007 Build Sheet

I did locate a photo of a 2007 GT500 being assembled at FLR (see link). Taped to the front is what I believe to be a newer style “Chassis Build Sheet”. If FLR is still using the same system as DAP this will be one of the seven in the series.

I have a question for you that I have been trying to find out. On the data tag is the blend number my question is how many Mustangs does Ford make in a Blend Rotation I know it could be a max. of 10,000 since the blend numbers can be 0001 - 9999 but the rotation number could be lower. If you know the answer to this question that would be great to know.

I am not sure how many there would be on average for each shift. On my 03 Cobra the Rotation Number is 9319 and the Blend Number is 6261 (See link for Trim Build Sheet example). I don't know what sequencing was used although I do believe it is single digit increases for sequential Bucks.

On the example photo of the 2007 GT500 in the previous post you can see on the Build Sheet that the Rotation Number is 3739.

So is the Rotation number the number of Mustangs to be built... and the blend number the cars sequence number within the Rotation number? So with your example your car is #6,261 of the rotation of 9,319 is that how it works?

Thanks I tried to find a font that was close and use as much of the newer Mustang information to put on the Buildsheet. I wish there was more I can put but the older Mustang information does not translate to the 2005+ cars.

I tired a few and this one was the best of them. On most build sheet I saw the letter was off but I tried to keep it centered in the box.

Ron,

My car is Rotation Number 9319 for the shift that it was built on. I don't know what number that shift started with on April 7, 2003, or what number the shift ended on. I am fairly sure the next sequential Buck would be Rotation Number 9320. I am not sure how the Blend Numbers were used.

Hey, no problem. I am learning too. It is nice to see someone else with the same interest in how these cars were built. I hang out over on SVTPerformance.com most of the time under the same user name. I will watch this thread for a while as I found it very interesting.
