GT/CS Production Figures

FYI, I was fishing through a Ford presentation given to dealers prior to the 2007 MY start. I saw something explained in it that I see asked from time to time. The Cal Special is scheduled to go both 2007 & 2008 and the MY capacity is set to 8,750.

That is interesting. I was under the now erroneous impression that Ford would build as many GT/CSs as it had orders for or felt the dealers could sell. I kind of like the idea it might be limited to 8,750 per year.

My understanding was that Ford is committed to put out a Mustang special edition every year to keep the interest up. The 07 is the Cal Spec and the 08 is the Bullitt, but since they are also doing the Shelby, GT-H, and now a retail GT-H only available in black or white for late 07, I guess anything is possible for next year.
I would like to see whatever special edition it is ONLY available in that year, I think that is what makes a special edition "special".

Nice to hear, but how can we find out where our cars sit in production, ie 2251 of 8750? or will that even be possible? guess total numbers will not be available untill next year for 07 figures .

Well, since the CS is not sequentially numbered as the 2001 Bullitt was, I doubt we will ever know exactly where each one fits. Like you say, at the end of the MY, the total built figures should be available.

I hear your Doug - would be nice to know but since it is really just an appearence package and a "sequential" VIN numbered GT - I wouldn't guess that there is any limit other than the number of buyers who order the GT/CS or buy one off a dealers lot....I hope I'm wrong as it would be nice to know that our GT/Cs's are limited in number - but I'm guessing that Ford will make all that they can sell....our GT/CS is really an option - not so much an Special Edition....having said that - I REALLY like mine and am glad that Ford came out with the GT/CS

me too or rather my wife is. I just put on a 3d carbon rear black out panel....it looks good and matches the flat black look of the rear diffuser and front spoiler.

I have been told that the GT/CS will be limited to 2007 and 2008 with an approximate total production run of 8800 cars. Paul Newitt was kind enough to forward that info on to me.

Any Idea how long its been taking lately to get GT/CS I ordered mine back on 8/8/06 and its still not being builded, my local dealer is not to happy with Ford right now,has anyone else been waiting this long? I ordered mine with a 5 speed and the limited slip 3:55 would this cause it to take longer.I was told today by the dealer that its been submited to the plant now, hope he is not just giving me the run around to keep me happy. Thanks for any replies Steve

My dealer said the same thing that 5 speeds take longer then an auto.I think it is the same for a GT with a 5 speed all so.

Mine was ordered on 8/30 and all I've had so far was a VIN attributed to it. That's a 5 speed with limited slip 3:55 like yours so I guess we're in the same boat. Don't let them give you the run around. I told them that without any tangible signs of this order moving forward, the wait will not last further than past the end of November. That's MY deadline

I originally went to another dealer in my area that said 16 weeks and he said the 18 inch wheels and 5 speed tran were the reason that it would take longer why I don't know, this dealer was the larger of the 2 and this dealer would do the x-plan for me,then the dealer that I ended up going through also did the x - plan for me said he would be able to get it faster claiming the ford rep owed him a couple favores and this could be one of them. The 10th of Oct was 9 weeks ,well there been some good things that happpen since I ordered it there is now a $500 rebate I got on it that I did'nt anticipate plus my loan rate dropped another Quarter of a percent.Right now I keep waiting if it gets to out of hand I might have to start making some finale deadline too. What really was up setting about this was the first dealer had a vista blue C/S just about like I wanted I got to test drive it,really liked it to but they would not sell it to me through X-plan said they could get sticker price for it which they did sell it the next day and now they have another on there lot, well I can look at that one for now, maybe I should go test drive it with another sales person a temporary fix till I get mine . When I ordered mine, the manual trans with a Shaker 1000 was a big hold up. Whats the coalition between the two? who knows. I have an auto, got it pretty quick. check below.
If you ordered one, be patient it's on its way. Have your tried the URL?

I ordered mine early August & the invoice went for build at the beginning of Sept. I just heard it will arrive Oct. 18th. Most threads I've read in this & other forums take 8 to 12 weeks. Nine for me if nothing goes wrong. Good luck Champ7.

I think your dealer is trying to placate you.....I ordered mine on 8/14 and drove it home on 9/29 - just about 6 weeks later....3:55, 5 spd mtx, convertible - fully loaded.....there really seems to be a lot of "mystery" around the Ford ordering process.....you'd think customer ordered cars would be a #1 priority as it is guaranteed sale for the dealer and for Ford...

I was surfing and found a page from Ford that 5% of production would be GT/CS's, so your figures of 8750 sounds correct if they produce 175,000 mustangs for MY 07
