GT/CS Automatic or 5-speed?

I never thought I'd even consider an automatic. But now, I don't know. The automatics today are hard to beat. They're always in the right gear and set to follow the torque curve perfectly. And with the 3.73 axle on the option list ... .

Que pense vous?

Thought you were not getting one
Either way if you want to wait longer get the 5-speed as dealers are still alocated as to how many manuals they can get. There is nothing wrong with an Auto, stick is fun if you can drive one properly but if it's a daily driver the auto is better equipped for that. Most of daily driving involves sitting in traffic at times and a manual is no fun in bumper to bumper.

I have a little history with this one. I have had nothing but autos for the last 30 years. My '05 GT was an auto, i traded it in on a '07 GT/CS. Just for the heck of it (maybe because i'm getting older) i thought i would go with a manual this time. And i'm telling you, i'm having a blast driving this thing. Now keep in mind, the 5sp auto in my '05 is the best auto i have have ever driven.

5 speed for fun. Auto for conveyance... I purchased my Stang for fun, hence, my decision

3.73 axle is not an option from the factory, unless you want to add it on later. 3.31 is standard, 3.55 is optional, but only on the manual. All autos get 3.31.

I have the Auto and I really like it better. I have to travel and I get stuck in traffic a lot, so the Auto is easier. I don't know about the gears, I have the stock gears. I guess it is a preference of choice. Auto. IMO

It depends on the driving you will be doing. Mine is a daily driver and even though I only live 10 miles away from work...I'm always in traffic; therefore, my automatic is the best choice for that type of driving.

Right. I was thinking of the FR Drag Pack, which would be dealer installed.

I chose for my 05 & 07 both manual , as I have so much fun driving it, all that torque just right there , I guess it really does depend on one use for it, but I do a lot of driving I got my 05 the same time I got a new company 05 and they both have like 39000 kilometers on each within 1.5 years so thats 78000 for my 1.5 years driving, if my body did not require sleep I'd be found out driving the Mustang, they are soo much fun !

As has been said, the stick is a blast to drive.

Two lane road, opportunity to pass, gear down to third, hit the gas and you are gone!

One thing to consider in favour of the Auto is the factory remote start option is now available and cheap ($280CDN, ?US), but only on Automatic.

With the extra cost for Auto and generally tougher resale, i think the stick is the way to go unless you are commuting.

Before getting married 15 years ago I had 3 cars that were stick and a few auto, and with the stick you feel like an active participant in the driving experience. The first stick I drove since then was an 07 Mustang at the dealer before placing my order for the CS, and I was surprised on how smoothly it went.

Now with the car order comes the decision does she drive it or is this MY TOY?

Love those gears shifts

Since this is the third car in the house we both have our daily drivers which are auto.....this ones for fun!

Same deal here - the GT/CS is the 3rd car in the house, both daily drivers are auto, so my Mustang is stick. It is so much fun.

4th car in the house (2 drivers) and all are auto. Nudge the gas a bit, it downshifts two gears and, you're history! I wouldn't mind trying a manual but, love the auto!

Hey there's nothing wrong with an auto. I have an auto and I woop on guys with 5speeds at the track all the time. Having an auto means never having to say you missed a shift.

If you put a 3.73 gear in with an auto trans, it really whacks!

But it can't be that quick if it ain't got a stick.
