Gear swap

Our pretty much stock CalStang has the 3:55's also and we love it! Plenty of low end grunt for the 5-speed stick and also really great (24-26 MPG) highway mileage when on those long road trips! Pretty much the best of both worlds for us here. "RC"

3.73s had two surprises for me:
1) Appreciable boost in acceleration at any gear/speed;
2) Very little change in cruising RPM.
I had been wary of what I thought was a radical change in gearing - 3.31 to 3.73 - but the negative aspects just didn't materialize: no significant increase in noise, no debilitating sense of an overly-busy engine, even at SoCal freeway speeds (75 to 85 MPH).
There was a noticeable decrement in overall gas mileage (22 MPG to 20 MPG) but I put that down to a tendency to enjoy the sensation afforded by getting deeper into the throttle more often.

4.10 cars do not go any faster than 3.73 cars on street tires. On Drag Radials they do though.
So if drag racing or tire shredding dougnuts and burnouts is in your future, then 4.10s. If your staying with normal street tires or even summer tires, go with the 3.73s.
3.73/3.31 = 12.7% increase in RPM and torque. 4.10/3.31 = 23.9% increase or about double the change of the former choice.

3.73's for me! I drag race, but I also want to get into road racing so 4.10's are a bit much. I run around the city a lot and sometimes make small trips, so 4.10's wouldn't really help me there either.
