Gas-Oil-Tires?

I know these questions have been asked before, but I am too lazy to search.

Gas - What octane do you feed this car? 87 as recommended?

Oil - What oil brand is preferred and what filter? 3000 miles a change?

Tires - Rotation time? Every 5000?

Any other suggested parts/replacements would be great.

Thanks!

Gas - 87 or just plain regular, the factory ecm is set for it.
Oil - 5w20 is the ticket, every 3000 to 5000, comes with Motorcraft semi/synthetic or use full synthetic ( Motorcraft, Mobil One, etc.) I use a factory Motorcraft filter.
Tires - Rotate and check balance every 5000

Any more Questions?

+1 for TDS.

Nothing wrong with 87 octane, that is what the car was designed for. You should not have any problems with it, and no need to put in more expensive high octane gas. You won't get any benefit from it.

Stick with the 5-20. Motorcraft oil is excellent oil, and Motorcraft filters are definitely top notch...and cheap too. If you want to step up for longer drain intervals (7,500-10,000 miles) you can go with Mobil1 or Pennzoil Platinum. That is what I am doing.

Don't bother to rotate the tires just replace the rears as needed. Mobil one every 8k miles. Pennzoil platinum every 5k.

Register your vehicle at ford.com and they will email and mail you automatic service updates which tell you the reccommended service intervals..You are pretty much covered for bumper to bumper for 5/50000 miles so do what they recommend for this time period. Only deviate if you make major mods and additions ( these very well may void the warranty). If you plan on a stock car ( no changes) then following the FORD service intervals will keep your machine running right. Save all receipts if you choose another service shop. Just a rule of thumb

From these test results and from some engine builders. Of course the engine builders my be a little bias.

I wish they would have run those tests with regular old Mobil1 instead of the Extended Performance version. That would be a better comparison for me and most others on this board, since most of us don't run the EP version of Mobil1.

Gas 87 octane at QT

Oil and filter, Ford Synthetic Blend 5-20 and Motorcraft oil filter at dealer

Air filter - Fram (I compared the Ford to Fram and they look basically same construction only Ford was about $20 more)

Tire rotation every 5000 as per manual

Typically you replace the air filter every 15,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first...or you could get this and never have to replace your air filter again! (you'll have to clean it though)
