Bye Bye California Special
My knee has had enough. No more manuals. I was trying to save up $$$ for a new GT 'vert one day but it was going to take too long. I started the 'search'.
It was extremely tough to sell our GT/CS but we found a nice replacement in Wisconsin. It was 855 miles away from us but when you find a one owner 2014 GT 'vert with just 8,800 miles we had to check it out. I always liked the Sublime Challengers and this Gotta Have It Green was darn close. We took the 2007 California Special to see if they would give us a fair trade-in. It all worked out. The 2014 was a nice as could be except for the now 9 year old original Pirelli tires. I've already ordered a new set of Goodyear Exhilarate Ultra High Performance tires. Our drive home was fine except for some torrential rains in Kentucky No leaks!.
Maybe the new owner will show up here one day.
Here we are at the Ford dealership saying good bye and also saying hello. A fun adventure. We always seem to travel long distances to get the cars we want.

^^^ Good stuff! Thanks about the knee but it's just getting sore, not serious yet. The 'stop and go' traffic is what gets to me as trips to Atlanta and other cities are tough. No worries anymore.
Convertibles are a 'must' for us with Mustangs. I see you are from VA so you completely understand the 'need' for the Blue Ridge Pkwy and all those wonderful roads you guys have there, just like us in NC. We bought our GT/CS in Fredericksburg way back when. That sure was closer to us than Wisconsin for this one.

I'm quite certain it must had been a bitter sweet moment when having to part with the "07" GT/CS, but knowing that operating a manual trans finally took a toll upon your knee, you apparently had very little choice in the matter.. However, what matters most, is that you were able to enjoy the GT/CS for 15 wonderful years, and are now able to enjoy making lots of all new memories with your new to you "14" Coyote GT vert.
She's sure a real beauty, to say the very least... Congrats

m05fastbackGTThank you so much! I'm glad you mentioned the Coyote engine. It really helps make up for the loss of the 5 speed. Very quick and responsive and I barely drove it hard as I have to wait for my tires. I can't believe how hard these old Pirellis are, probably from non-use along with age. I'm glad we made it home safely. I am scheduled to get the new Goodyears on today, then I can really explore this 420 HP engine.

No doubt about the Coyote engine making up for the loss of the 5 speed you had in the "07" GT/CS... When upgrading from the 3v's 300HP to the "14" Coyote's 420HP is most definitely a significant improvement, to say the very least lol...As for the stock Pirellis, I couldn't wait to replace them, as they're absolutely horrible, especially in rainy/wet weather conditions... Meanwhile, glad you made it home safely and have no doubt the new Goodyears will make a significant improvement in the handling and traction department... I also have no doubt as to how much you'll enjoy exploring the 420HP of the Coyote engine
Congrats on the new GHIG GT convertible! I too would hate to give up a car as sharp as your '07 GT/CS. I think you will enjoy the new Coyote & an automatic. Looks like you found a very well cared for extremely low miles car. Very nice!
I too have a manual and love it, but my wife has never driven it in the nearly nine years we have had it. That is mainly because she does not want to mess with the clutch, even though I know she knows how to drive one. Her first car had one and she did great with it. I too have some issues, knee and back, that will some day affect my ability to shift the car. Right now enjoy it and I will keep my manual, but some day I will be right there with you.
Looks like you found a great replacement for the GT/CS. And it gave you a reason for a nice road trip.
Looks very nice. Glad you will still be hanging out here with us other Mustang Owners! Love to see more pictures when you get the post made! Enjoy!!!

Oh yeah, gotta have a Mustang in our lives. This will be #4 for us starting way back in 1982. I will post photos eventually. I'm still detailing. The interior was first and took a full day to get to my standards. Then the convertible top, from RAGGTOPP to all the rubber seals and working parts. Just started the exterior and then I'll do the engine bay last as that is the toughest part on my body from all the bending and reaching. The car was undercoated by the previous owner since he lived in Wisconsin and some of that black material shot up into the engine bay. It's going to take some effort. The car is really starting to look 'like new' with it's now 9,700 miles.

A quick photo after finishing much of the exterior. The RAGGTOPP treatment on the cloth top worked beautifully even after 8 years of nothing being applied. Nice and black and now repelling water. The key was it being kept in a garage all it's life with minimal exposure to the elements, especially up in Wisconsin.
The paint is as nice as my 2020 R/T despite being 6 model years apart. Quite an effort, and I'm feeling it, but the Meguiar's Gold Carnauba makes the green 'pop' even in the garage.

Very impressed indeed with how good the Meguiar's Gold Carnauba is able to make Got To Have It Green pop so well.. Just out of curiosity, is your Challenger R/T also an automatic or manual? I honestly don't recall

^^^ Thank heavens it's an auto (8 speed) or else I'd be selling it too. I knew better, even 2 years ago, and it was just a matter of time before the knee had enough.

Thanks! You should have seen it when we pulled in to the lot. So much rain along the way. After a simple wash, the car popped again.
I guess they feel the car will sell but there wouldn't be any harm in adding in those extra selling points. Mostly highway miles can be verified with photos too. Two sets of carpets, dealer installed Shaker ($2,000) plus the CS designation. Whatever, it's their car now.

^^^ When something is in your garage for so long, it is tough to say goodbye, especially when I really didn't want to sell it. Having said that though, and just like you said, this '14 is quite the replacement.
It is extremely similar in so many ways and really 'like new'. I punched it again today when I went out for my 'vent estimate', and it responds with speed that reminds me a bit of my old C6. It puts you back in your seat. It's interesting how different it is compared to my R/T. The R/T is very quick off the line with it's 400 rated torque, yet the GT screams in the higher RPM's and would probably run away from the Hemi. I like having different responding cars instead of similar beasts. I guess you never get too old for this 'muscle' stuff when you grow up with it. It stays with you your entire life.
