Buying a gt/cs

I'm in the process of buying a 08 gt/cs with 9000 miles. We have a tentative price of 17k. It needs a ding on the front passenger fender which my local body guy says he can fix easily. I'm a mustang newbie. Am I getting a good deal or should I move on?
Thanks
John

Don't know where you're located, but that's a good deal where I am. Clean retail here would be about $22K. What color is it? Just curious.

Thanks. The car is white. The car fax is clean. The only issue is the fender, which worries me a bit.

Thumbs up

Hey Bro,
If it makes you feel any better, I paid 23G for my 2008 GTCS with 5600 miles on the clock, about two months ago...but I can be a little impulsive. I don't regret spending what I did one bit ...
If you like it, I'd say go for it...
Respectfully,
Harry

John: If this GT/CS is very clean and you can fix the fender back to as new without a lot of extra expense, than the picture of ours here says. "Git-Er-Done! The California's will always be loved by the Mustang Crowd. Don't think you can really go wrong for the price if the Fax sheet is clean and you really like it!! CalStang

P.S. We just Love ours!!!

If you do purchase the car please register it on my site so you can receive the members discount codes. If you have a VIN number I can look up the window sticker and add the car to the database.

Thank you everybody for your advice. I'm working on getting to the car. It's out of state. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks

I've found that, in my area, California Specials have pretty consistent prices. For example (I have a 2009), prices on 2009 GTCSs with 25K miles or less average around $25k ($24.5K to about $26/27K). However, I'm not sure they sell very well. I've had mine for sale for 2 months now and haven't had a single bite, and my asking price is well below that. The market on used S197 GT is really hard to gauge right now, so a bargain to you might not be to another. Buy what makes you happy.

Cool GT/CS Stripes

Don't really recommend that anyone buy these. As they already have some creases in them and installer will probably not be able to get those completely out when they install them? That maybe why they are for sale here on ebay motors?

Just order them from your Ford dealership. And FYI they are not cheap! We had both of ours replaced by Ford because they were not installed correctly from the factory. They were put on our Stang by an aftermarket graphics company working for the dealer and it was over $100.00 just for the install labor! Lucky for us that was all covered on the new car warranty. CalStang

P.S. See picture of ours when it was brand spankin new and the very bad factory stripes install. "RC"

17k for only 9k miles is a great price. Almost too good to be true really. I purchased my 08 gt/cs in January with 27k miles for 20.5k, and that was 2 - 3 k under the market average price. I'd be a little wary of damage to the car. Usually when a price seems too good to be true, it usually is.

It was a little too good to be true. I finally got out of the guy the hid light lens is cracked. $1300 from ford. I walked away. Looking for something else. I felt like he had been hiding the light damage hoping I wouldn't notice.

If that's the only problem, then it's still worth 18,300. Even still, you can buy a different set of lights for around 300 dollars. But, it's up to you...

I feel if he was being evasive about the broken light, what else is going on with the car? I asked for pics and they always skirted around the area with the most damage. Chances are the car is fine, buy this is a once in a lifetime buy for me. I can't take the chance on getting screwed over. Thanks for all of your insights.

I ended up buying a 2005 gt silver satin with 8k on it. Guy I bought from drove it on weekends only. It has seen rain twice and has never seen snow. It's In showroom condition. I couldn't be more pleased. Pics coming soon.

A 2005 with only 8K sounds great, congratulations! Looking forward to the pictures.
