"Pit stripes" were important in earlier days (60s or so, pre-radio communication from pit to car and vice versa) when team cars with identical paint schemes were more easily discriminated by different color stripes.
One of the Team Shelby guys cuts and sells them in various colors, for your stick-on pleasure. You want to see stripes? Fourth-Of-July stripes post #29 from the thread linked above. |

Not sure if any different in the sound, but yes mine are the round one's. They are pricy but well worth it. I picked mine up from a guy that was swaping everything out to 3" so I saved a couple hundred from list.
